Role Summary:
The Director, Business Development is responsible for driving new business opportunities and expanding our footprint by promoting and selling Intrepid’s cutting-edge fiber connectivity solutions. This role is pivotal in engaging with key stakeholders, including ISPs, government entities, network owners, and contractors, to ensure successful collaborations and business growth.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in commercial discussions with third parties to identify and develop new business opportunities, primarily focused on wholesale fiber customers, but also including ISPs, vendors, network owners, government entities, developers and contractors.
- Identify, target and present company offerings to prospective customers across relevant industries, focusing on expanding fiber connectivity solutions.
- Aid in market expansion and network development by performing outreach and meeting with potential federal, state and municipal government entities.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to meet and exceed company goals.
- Influence and meet customer KPI’s including but not limited to, increasing company revenue and gross profit per customer.
- Source and screen potential acquisition targets.
- Leverage existing relationships to gain introductions and referrals while continuously building a robust pipeline of new prospects.
- Present and demonstrate Intrepid’s capabilities to key decision-makers, tailoring the approach to both technical and executive audiences.
- Negotiate contracts and close deals to drive revenue growth and expansion opportunities.
- Manage customer dispute resolution and handle customer escalations with a positive outcome.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to refine strategies and approaches.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities and client interactions in the internal system.
- Prepare business cases for potential opportunities, including modeling.
- Prepare regular reports and forecasts for senior management.
Qualifications:
- Self-starter with the ability to operate independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in telecommunications or a related industry, preferably in sales or business development.
- BA/BS degree in Business or other similar discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered. Master’s degree a plus.
- Proven track record of success in business development, with a focus on selling complex solutions.
- Strong proactive approach to identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to speak to anyone from a technical level to the C-suite.
- Excellent negotiation and closing skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Desired experience in consulting (e.g., Big 4) with a polished demeanor and strong commercial acumen.
- Comprehensive knowledge of commercial and legal agreements, with an understanding of business impacts.
- In-depth understanding of fiber connectivity solutions and network architecture is ideal.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% to meet with clients and attend industry events.
- Clear driving record and valid driver's license.
