POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Legal Affairs Specialist is responsible for overseeing all of the approved changes to the Georgia REALTORS® Forms package each year, assisting with the Professional Standards administration process as well as being the staff liaison between GAR and the local boards/associations. The Legal Affairs Specialist will work with its assigned committees to create content and information for members that furthers the goals and strategic initiatives of GAR.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the preparation for and attends (as needed): (1) Annual Regional AE Conference, (2) Inaugural & Legislative Conference, (3) Annual Conference & Expo, (4) GAR Leadership Summit, (5) Brokers Summit; and (6) Member Connect Summits
- Attends national meetings as needed and directed including but not limited to 1) AEI; 2) NAR Legislative Meeting; 3) NAR Annual Meeting; 4) NAR Legal Summit; 5) NAR’s Broker Summit; and 6) CMLS
- Responsible for Committee minutes for the Committees that you serve as staff liaison or co-staff liaison.
- Serves as the staff liaison responsible for Core Standards in collaboration with the Director of Legal Affairs, Legal Affairs Officer and CEO.
- Serves as the staff liaison responsible for the Committee Draft Process
- Works with committees to identify content, material and potential speakers for Committees’ Forums, Trainings, Summits and Conferences
- Monitor State Director allocations, updates, trainings, etc.
- Creates, updates and presents bi-annual State Director Training
- Tracks and monitors Forms updates and changes as approved by the Forms Committee
- Provides guidance regarding questions about Forms content
- Serves as staff liaison between GAR members and Forms Committee regarding requests for potential changes to GAR Forms
- Serves as staff liaison between GAR and its various Forms vendors
- Provides information in response to questions/concerns from members and the public regarding Georgia REALTOR® proprietary forms purchase and authorized use
- Drafts cease and desist letters when there is unauthorized use of the Georgia REALTORS® Forms
- Creates content when needed to address questions on GAR Forms
- Monitors, sorts and organizes Helpline related questions including sending reminders as needed
- Achieves NAR’s Certified Professional Standards Administrator status to serve as a Professional Standards Administrator and Board Counsel in Professional Standards Hearings when directed by Director of Legal Affairs
- Other duties as directed by the Director of Legal Affairs, Legal Affairs Officer and CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Non-profit experience is a plus; legal experience required; attention to detail required, task oriented, must be an effective verbal and written communicator with the ability to work independently within very specific timeframes; familiarity with contract law
EDUCATION:
- JD preferred; RCE preferred
