Accounting Specialist – Accounts Receivable & General Ledger

About the Role
The Georgia Association of REALTORS® (GAR) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. Reporting to the Finance Director, this hands-on role is vital to our organization's financial operations and involves managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and delivering timely financial reporting. This position requires a proactive, organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable working with tight deadlines and high expectations.

Position Details

Key Responsibilities
As our Accounting Specialist, you will:

  • Oversee accounts receivable operations, including monitoring and pursuing outstanding balances.
  • Review and post daily RPAC (REALTORS® Political Action Committee) transactions, ensuring accuracy and reporting integrity.
  • Reconcile monthly balance sheet accounts, conduct variance analyses, and provide general ledger support.
  • Prepare and deliver daily and monthly financial reports.
  • Conduct internal audits across membership, PAC, and other areas as assigned.
  • Assist with preparing financial packets, reports, and documentation for staff and Board meetings.
  • Provide exceptional financial and operational support to staff, members and local associations.
  • Facilitate scheduling and coordination of committee meetings. Assist with minutes of meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, organizational policies, and regulations.
  • Handle ad-hoc tasks and projects assigned by the Finance Director or CEO.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A four-year degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred) or a minimum of 5+ years of relevant corporate accounting experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and excel under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Office Suite; advanced QuickBooks skills are required, with Bill.com and eCommerce familiarity being a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships with members and colleagues.
  • A team-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
