Summary of Position
NSS seeks a Cyber Threat Analyst for the UltraProtect service. The Cyber Threat Analyst will identify new threats in the DDoS and Web application space and devise strategies to mitigate these threats. The Cyber Threat Analyst will work with the UltraProtect SOC to provide training on proper mitigation techniques. The Threat Modeler will be responsible for monthly reports on current and past trends and will interface with customers and other teams to socialize these trends.
Responsibilities
Track new and current DDoS trends and devise preventive mitigation strategies. Work with Neteng and the SOC to implement these strategies. Hold training sessions with the SOC.
Work with NSS vendors to improve mitigation techniques and work with third-party vendors.
Track new Application layer attacks and work on effective signatures.
Track Zero-day exploits and understand the impact on the business and customers. Work with the product team to socialize how NSS will mitigate the exploit.
Prepare monthly reports DDoS trend reports for the product support teams.
Prepare customer-facing threat trend reports and write blog reports socializing the latest trends.
Make recommendations to improve the reporting Infrastructure.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree or equivalent working experience.
5+ years of understanding of DNS, DDoS, web application attacks, and automated web bots
Extremely comfortable with ELK, Kentik, ClickHouse, or other threat intelligence or monitoring technology
Exhibited strong written and communications skills
Extensive experience conveying complex information in simple, succinct explanations
A strong understanding and familiarity with the intelligence cycle
Demonstrated experience utilizing the Diamond Threat Model or Cyber Kill Chain
Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing raw information to produce finish intelligence
Ability to work independently
Significant attention to detail
A natural desire to ask questions and investigate
