Job Purpose: Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club is seeking an experienced and passionate Head Swim Team Coach to lead our swim team program. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to fostering a positive and competitive environment, developing swimmers’ skills, and promoting a love for swimming among all team members. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a willingness to teach advanced level swim lessons to swim team members.
Job Summary (Essential Functions):
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for all age groups and skill levels, ensuring the program aligns with the club’s goals and values.
- Conduct regular swim practices, providing instruction on technique, conditioning, and racing strategies.
- Foster a supportive and motivating environment for swimmers to achieve personal and team goals.
- Plan, organize, and oversee swim meets, including inter-club competitions and Candy Meets.
- Evaluate swimmers’ progress, provide feedback, and individualized coaching to enhance performance.
- Collaborate with the Youth and Aquatics Program Manager to schedule practices, meets, and events.
- Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining a vigilant and proactive approach to pool safety and emergency procedures.
- Mentor and supervise assistant coaches, providing guidance, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist Youth and Aquatics Program Manager in overseeing the junior coaches both at practice and swim meets, providing leadership advice and guidance.
- Maintain open and effective communication with swimmers, parents, and club management.
- Stay current with swim coaching techniques, competitive swimming trends, and club management.
- Assist with swim team recruitment and retention efforts to grow the program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience coaching competitive swimming, preferably at a club or high school level
- USA Swimming Coach Certification
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED Certification.
- Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques, training methods, and racing strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate swimmers of all ages and skill levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team and manage assistant coaches.
- High level of professionalism and dedication to the sport of swimming.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate practices, meets, and events, including evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Must be able to lift 50 lbs, as well as stand for extended periods of time. Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting.
Work Schedule and Hours:
- Tuesday – Friday afternoons
- Frequent weekend work required.
- Days and times may vary depending on needs.
Pay Rate: This is an hourly (non-exempt) position. Rate varies based on experience.
- Rate when coaching swim team: $48 - $50.00 per hour
- Rate when teaching swim lessons: $18 - $20 per hour, plus 30% commission.
