Job Purpose 

Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Swim Instructor to provide private and small group swim lessons for members of all ages and ability levels. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, communicates well with parents, and can independently manage their lesson schedule while creating a fun, safe, and supportive learning environment. 

Job Summary (Essential Functions) 

  • Teach private and small group swim lessons for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. 

  • Create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that focus on water safety, stroke development, and confidence in the water. 

  • Evaluate swimmer progress and provide clear feedback to swimmers and parents. 

  • Coordinate scheduling directly with parents and manage lesson availability. 

  • Maintain clear and professional communication with families and club management. 

  • Ensure a safe pool environment by following all safety protocols and emergency procedures. 

  • Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that helps swimmers build confidence and enjoyment in the water. 

Qualifications 

  • Previous swim instruction experience required (private lessons, swim schools, summer league, or club programs preferred). 

  • Strong swimming background with knowledge of basic stroke mechanics and water safety. 

  • Ability to teach swimmers from beginner to advanced levels. 

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and manage scheduling with families. 

  • Positive attitude and passion for teaching children and helping swimmers improve. 

Certifications 

  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire). 

  • Lifeguard certification preferred, but not required. 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and remain active for extended periods of time in a pool environment. 

Work Schedule 

  • Flexible scheduling based on lesson demand. 

  • Availability for afternoons, evenings, and weekends preferred. 

Compensation 

Hourly Rate: $25 – $90 per hour 
Rate varies depending on the type of lesson (private vs small group).
