About Acorn Credentialing Solutions

Acorn Credentialing Solutions is a healthcare SaaS company focused on modernizing provider credentialing, payer enrollment, and compliance workflows for health systems, telehealth organizations, behavioral health groups, pharmacies, and payers. We combine deep domain expertise with cloud-based technology and integrations to reduce administrative burden, improve data quality, and accelerate revenue for our clients.

Position Summary

The Business Analyst (BA) at Acorn is a critical member of our Agile product and engineering organization. This role owns the discovery, documentation, and refinement of business and functional requirements for new product enhancements, workflow improvements, and bug fixes. The BA will work closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Implementations, and Operations to translate real-world credentialing and enrollment problems into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria that drive delivery.

In addition, the BA will support Client and System Support Specialist training by converting product changes and workflows into structured training content, leading internal enablement sessions, and serving as a subject matter expert on system behavior and use cases. This ensures both our internal teams and our clients understand how to effectively use Acorn’s platform to achieve their operational and business objectives.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys digging into processes, talking to users, understanding edge cases, and making sure the development team always knows the “why” behind the work.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

  • Partner with Product Owners, customers, and internal stakeholders (Customer Success, Implementations, Support, Operations) to elicit and document business requirements for:

    • Product enhancements and new features

    • Bug fixes and production issues

    • Workflow and process optimizations across credentialing, enrollment, payer, and pharmacy use cases

  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process walkthroughs to understand current state and desired future state.

  • Analyze customer feedback, support tickets, and production data to identify recurring issues and high-value enhancement opportunities.

Backlog & Agile Delivery Support

  • Collaborate with Product Owners to translate requirements into high-quality user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria in the product backlog.

  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups by clarifying requirements, edge cases, and dependencies.

  • Help prioritize bugs and enhancements based on business value, impact, and effort, ensuring alignment with product roadmap and customer commitments.

  • Validate that delivered features and fixes meet documented requirements and acceptance criteria.

Process Mapping & Solution Design

  • Document current and future state workflows, data flows, and system interactions, especially across:

    • Provider credentialing and re-credentialing

    • Payer enrollment and directory management

    • Integrations with external data sources and partner systems

  • Work with Product and Engineering to propose practical, scalable solutions that balance user experience, technical complexity, and regulatory/compliance needs.

  • Support UI/UX refinement by providing clear business rules, field definitions, and workflow expectations.

Testing & Quality

  • Develop test cases and scenarios based on requirements and acceptance criteria to support QA and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Participate in UAT with internal teams and, where appropriate, clients; help capture, triage, and clarify issues.

  • Verify that bug fixes resolve root causes and do not introduce regressions in critical workflows.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation for requirements, workflows, configurations, and release notes.

  • Communicate changes and new capabilities to internal teams (Customer Success, Support, Implementations) in a structured, easy-to-understand format.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge base content and enablement materials to support scalable implementations and customer onboarding.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner/Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar role in a software/technology or SaaS environment.

  • Strong skills in writing clear, concise, and testable user stories, business requirements, and acceptance criteria.

  • Demonstrated ability to map and analyze complex business processes and data flows.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills — able to translate between business users and technical teams.

  • Familiarity with concepts such as integrations, APIs, and data exchange in a SaaS context.

  • Basic data analysis skills (e.g., Excel, basic SQL, or data visualization tools) to support decision-making and prioritization.

  • Experience working with distributed/remote teams.
