P0015a Mechanical Engineer
X-Bow is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help us develop an innovative new manufacturing approach for energetic materials, including solid rocket motor propellant, using state-of-the-art robotics and automation.
This position Luling, TX with travel to Socorro, NM.
Design, analysis, fabrication and test of a complex robotic additive manufacturing system for energetic materials
Specification and installation of industrial manufacturing equipment, including mixers, pumps, valves, vacuum systems, material feed and metering systems.
Design, analysis, fabrication, checkout and installation of associated mechanisms.
Work with Chemists and Chemical Engineers to debug, characterize and optimize the manufacturing process.
Mechanical requirements development, flow-down and verification
Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Prepare complete and comprehensive reports
Maintaining traceable Quality and Mission Assurance practices
Experience and Skill Requirements
Minimum of 3 years’ experience (preferably 5+ years) robotics and/or automated manufacturing systems
Hands-on proficiency with mechanisms and mechanical systems, such as the ability to disassemble, modify and reassemble industrial equipment.
Demonstrated ability to devise and implement creative solutions to unique mechanical problems.
Comprehensive experience with CAD design and analysis, preferably in SolidWorks, including drafting, drawings & configuration control.
Familiarity with structural design practices & aerospace design processes, margins and qualification standards.
Experience with fluid systems is a plus but not required.
Experience working with Data Acquisition Systems & PLCs a plus.
Spacecraft or launch vehicle design experience is a plus but not required.
Basic communication, computer and management skills
Strong project planning, critical thinking, written and oral communication skills are required as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Contribute to and operate effectively with a multi-disciplinary technical team for research, development, and manufacturing activities
This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (plus minimum experience above).
Must be a US Citizen. May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information; having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
