Corporate Controller – Hybrid – Marlborough, MA or Hayward, CA

 

About the Opportunity

 

Meadowhawk Biolabs is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Corporate Controller to work within our hybrid (partial remote) Finance Team at our Hayward, CA location to perform accounting activities in a fast-paced team environment.  The ideal candidate is driven, hardworking, willing to learn, dedicated, and passionate about accounting. Given that we are a newly launched Contract Research Organization (CRO) founded by an experienced team of industry veterans, this ground floor position offers unique opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute meaningfully to the creation and development of our finance department, to expand their knowledge base by participation in multidisciplinary teams, and to advance their career in capabilities and responsibilities.

 

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

 

Reporting to the VP of Finance & Administration, the successful candidate will:

 

  • Oversee and manage the accounting team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Manage the preparation of regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Support the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision support to executive management.
  • Implement and improve financial systems, policies, and processes.
  • Monitor emerging financial and accounting trends and best practices.

 

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field; CPA or CMA preferred.  A minimum of (5) five years of progressive accounting experience, including management experience.  Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered as substitution for the specific criteria outlined above.

 

Skills:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Quickbooks or Netsuite or SAP is a plus.
  • Experience in CRO or Pharmaceutical or Medical Device company is a plus.

Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is $145,000.  The specific salary for this position may vary and will be based upon factors including, but not limited to the individual’s experience, education, and skills.  In addition to salary, Meadowhawk Biolabs provides a full benefits package upon hire date.
