Python Developer - Intern

We are looking for a skilled Python programmer who can undertake a project that involves web scraping for multiple websites for data including image and document downloads within an existing Python framework. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

  • Translating the structure of websites into specific Python parsers to extract specific data, persist extracted data to data model in PostgreSQL, and other downstream database(s)

  • Participate in the continued development of the web scraping system

  • Participate in the data cleansing, process and automation 

  • Preparing datasets for data science projects



Required Skills & Experience:

  • Have completed Python projects for coursework and/or demonstrate intermediate level Python skills

  • Experience webscraping and HTML a plus

  • Undergraduate Major in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or Masters program in the same disciplines

  • Preferably a Junior or Senior in their academic program

  • Potential to work and develop in other software development projects and work with languages beyond Python

 

Length/Location

 

  • 10-20 hours a week for the Spring semester 2024 (preferred 1 day/week on-site)  with the potential to extend into Summer 2024 (potentially full time hours requiring hybrid work schedule)

  • This role could potentially become a permanent full time position, which would require a hybrid work schedule
