DC Green Bank is looking for a Design and Communications Intern who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The Design and Communications Intern can expect to participate in the development of press releases and media relations materials, take and edit photos and videos related to DCGB’s work, and design social media and communications materials that elevate the impact of DC Green Bank.
What You’ll Be Doing:

Work with the Communications and Outreach Manager to create strategic communications materials and calendars for the organization.

Design standardized social media and communications templates and materials to support public communications and outreach efforts related to DC Green Bank projects and investments.

Capture and edit photos and video content for use on DC Green Bank social media channels, website, and for dissemination through other channels.

Support the Communications and Outreach Manager to plan and execute community engagement events.

Make recommendations for and participate in social media management and posts.

Assist the Communications and Outreach Manager to draft press releases and other pertinent communications materials related to DC Green Bank work.

Support the development of visual materials for public consumption that educate our audiences about DCGB’s mission, values, projects, investments, and other important information.
We’re Looking for someone who:
-
Is a degree-seeking student, preferably junior, senior, or graduate student status.

Has completed at least two undergraduate communications, graphic design, public relations, or media strategy courses. Coursework, experience, and/or demonstrated interest in the energy and environment sectors.

Has experience with graphic design, video editing, and creating attention-grabbing social media content.

Has experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign as well as Canva. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro a plus.

Demonstrates creativity as well as initiative.

Communicates clearly – both in writing and in conversation.

Is a team player but also comfortable working independently.
Additional Information:

This is a hybrid position, with time split between working remotely two (2) days per week and in our Washington, DC, office two (2) days per week.

You should be comfortable sitting for extended periods working at a computer; DCGB’s office space includes rising desks for all employees.

DCGB policies include a preference for hiring District residents, or individuals who become District residents within 180 days of becoming an employee of DCGB.
Position Status & Compensation:

FLSA non-exempt position. Temporary, part-time employee. Summer internship with possibility to extend if deemed appropriate by supervisor.

$20.75/hourly – up to 25 hours per week
