DC Green Bank is looking for a Staff Accountant who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. In this role, you’ll be an integral member of our accounting and finance team, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and the smooth running of everything from daily transactions to month-end close. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial data, supporting audits, and shaping our processes for the future. 

 

What You’ll Be Doing:  

  • Independently manage the daily operations of the accounting department general ledger including cash reconciliation, deferred revenue, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and more. 

  • Lead account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and data—especially loan receivables and interest income.  

  • Assist with timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.  

  • Participate in the preparation of financial statements and reports in compliance with US GAAP and regulatory standards.  

  • Streamline accounting processes and systems for greater accuracy and efficiency.  

  • Support internal audits, coordinate with external auditors, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.  

  • Create and maintain internal controls to protect the integrity of our financial transactions.  

  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting, providing key insights and financial expertise.  

  • Stay sharp by keeping up with accounting trends, regulations, and best practices. 

 

We’re looking for someone who: 

  • Has 1-3 years of direct accounting experience. 

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; or substantial relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 

  • Is detail-oriented, organized, and can juggle multiple tasks with precision.  
  • Communicates clearly—both in writing and in conversation.  

  • Enjoys solving problems and finding efficiencies.  

  • Is a team player but also comfortable working independently.  

  • Maintains high ethical standards and respects confidentiality.  

  • Is compliance-focused with a knack for project management.  

  • Brings an entrepreneurial spirit and a proactive approach. 

  • Is highly proficient in accounting software and ERP systems. Familiarity with Sage Intacct is a plus. 

  • Is proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable with technology. 

  • Has a comprehensive understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, and accrual accounting. 

 

Additional Information:

  • This is a hybrid position, with time split between working remotely two (2) days per week and in our Washington, DC, office three (3) days per week. 

  • You should be comfortable sitting for extended periods working at a computer; DCGB’s office space includes rising desks for all employees.   

  • DCGB policies include a preference for hiring District residents, or individuals who become District residents within 180 days of becoming an employee of DCGB.

Position Status & Compensation: 

  • Full-time, exempt position 

  • $73,500 – $80,000 annually
