Director of Solar Investments

DC Green Bank is seeking a Director of Solar Investments who will be responsible for leading the daily management, oversight, and strategic direction for DC Green Bank in the District’s federally funded Solar For All (SFA) lending program, as well as overall development of a pipeline of solar investment opportunities. This role reports to the Chief Investment Officer and will serve as an integral part of DC Green Bank’s loan origination team, serving as the primary contact for all aspects of SFA and DC Green Bank’s solar product offerings. 

 

Responsibilities:

Develop and Lead Solar For All:
•    Work with DC Green Bank’s leadership team to design and launch the organization’s SFA lending program.
•    Create lending products that comply with and meet the SFA program requirements, including federal and local requirements.
•    Assess resources needed to successfully launch the organization’s SFA program, including partner relationships, vendors, and community resources.
•    Work with DC Green Bank’s leadership team and public agency partners to develop a process to collect and report program level data, including climate impact, job creation, and benefits to low-income and disadvantaged communities.
•    Create program guidelines and procedures to ensure the organization’s efficient and effective deployment strategy and capital mobilization.

Marketing & Strategic Stakeholder Engagement:
•    Serve as DC Green Bank’s SFA and solar go-to representative in public forums, conferences, and community events. 
•    Develop relationships with local and federal government partners and provide institutional leadership for overall delivery of the financial assistance associated with the $62.45 million SFA program.
•    Develop strategies to mobilize private sector capital through engagement with private sector financial institutions, philanthropic organizations, non-profit institutions, community lenders, and the broader network of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund awardees. 
•    Engage with community leaders to assess the effectiveness of SFA and the organization’s solar offerings and seek opportunities to improve the products and processes.
•    Stay on top of industry trends, innovative financing structures, and solutions within the District’s solar market.
•    Work with the organization’s leadership and communications teams to market the organization’s SFA and solar product offerings.
•    Work with the organization’s communications team and partners to facilitate in-person or virtual events to educate partners and the community on the organization’s SFA and solar product offerings.

Solar Pipeline Management:
•    Work across the Investment team to build and maintain a pipeline of SFA and other solar transactions that meet annual origination and impact targets.
•    Assist in the screening of potential SFA and solar transactions.
•    Provide regular pipeline updates to key stakeholders, organizational leadership, and government partners.


Requirements:
•    A minimum of 8 years of experience, including direct project finance and management experience, in solar energy, and/or equivalent clean energy investment focus areas required. 
•    4-year degree in Business, Finance, or related field, or 4 years of additional equivalent experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree. 
•    Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; a demonstrated ability to be extremely organized, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
•    Self-starter who requires minimal supervision. Ability to work in collaborative space when necessary. 

 

Position Details:

•    Status: Full-time, exempt 
•    Location: Washington, D.C. 
•    Salary: $160,000-$175,000
•    Hybrid Work Schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days WFH – subject to change in the future. 
•    DCGB policies include a preference for hiring District residents, or individuals who become District residents within 180 days of their becoming an employee of DCGB.
