NexTech Solutions is seeking an Automation Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team. This individual will focus on designing, developing, and implementing automation workflows to enhance enterprise services. The Automation Engineer will work with various technologies, including Remedy, Office 365, Windows Server, and Linux, to create and maintain scalable automation solutions. An ideal candidate is a problem-solver, forward-thinking, and comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative environment to drive efficiency and reliability across systems. Position is hybrid role. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement automation solutions to streamline workflows across multiple enterprise systems, such as Remedy, Office 365, Windows Server, and Linux.

- Develop and maintain automation scripts and processes, utilizing APIs and other integration points for seamless connectivity.

- Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team to analyze business requirements and translate them into effective automated workflows.

- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles for automated environment setup and management.

- Ensure consistency, reliability, and repeatability of deployments through continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.

- Provide technical support for automated workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization and self-healing automation.

- Document automation processes and configurations, ensuring clear and accessible records for team members and stakeholders.

- Work with configuration management and orchestration tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Jenkins to manage deployments and configurations.

- Develop, test, and deploy scripts using Python, PowerShell, and Bash to support enterprise services.

 

Supervisory Responsibility: 

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may involve mentoring junior engineers and overseeing project-based work with sub-contractors.

 

Core Requirements:

- Must have the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance (US Citizenship required).

- 3+ years of experience in automation engineering or a related field, with a focus on creating robust, scalable automation solutions.

- Strong experience in Python, with additional scripting capabilities in PowerShell and/or Bash.

- Hands-on experience with API integrations and RESTful service design.

- Proficiency with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Terraform, for provisioning and managing cloud and on-prem environments.

- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or equivalent.

- Solid understanding of Windows Server and Linux administration.

- Knowledge of cloud services and platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.

 

Skills/Abilities:

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Excellent documentation and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- A proactive approach to identifying and automating repetitive tasks.

- Familiarity with orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible Tower, AWX) is preferred.

- Existing DoD Security Clearance is a plus.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

- Experience with Remedy, Office 365, and other enterprise applications.

- Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
