Compensation:   $16.00 per hour; scheduled hours per week vary based on

availability and event schedules 
Schedule:  Shifts available Tuesday – Sunday evenings 5:00pm-11:00pm and

Saturday -- Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm 
Location: All work is on-site in and around the Music Hall at Fair Park.

Position Summary:  

Broadway Dallas Event Security Associates are responsible for the safety and well-being of all individuals attending an event in the Music Hall at Fair Park. This part-time position serves as the first point of contact for audiences approaching and entering the nearly 100 year old historic venue which hosts hundreds of tickets events each year: Broadway musicals, concerts, comedy/spoken word, dance, symphony, film and dozens of other special events.

While overseen by the Safety and Security Manager, this role will be cross trained in health/safety procedures and in customer service policies and practices by the Event Manager. This individual will monitor entrances to ensure only authorized individuals enter, direct authorized individuals to their seating or other appropriate location and ensure that all Music Hall visitors observe the terms and conditions of entry while inside the historic civic building. 

This position requires regular on-site work in and around the Music Hall at Fair Park. No remote work is anticipated in this role. Familiarity with Fair Park and its surrounding neighborhoods is strongly preferred. 

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Access Control: monitoring entrances, exits, and seating areas to ensure authorized individuals are granted access
  • Security Screening: proper use of magnetometers to screen event attendees, metal detecting hand wands, and other advanced screening systems and protocols
  • Crowd Control: ensuring sections/rooms remain at or below capacities, clearing pathways, executing emergency evacuation and medical team access procedures, monitoring crowd and individual activity levels and addressing immediate issues as they arise
  • VIP Escorting
  • Line Management
  • Customer Service: offering polite wayfinding service, communicating safety and security policies in a firm and courteous manner, escalating customer service issues to Event Manager and safety/security issues to Safety & Security Manager.
  • Assisting Front of House Staff
  • Parking Duties: ensuring safety and security policies and procedures are followed in the valet and general parking areas frequented by Music Hall patrons; ensuring appropriate access control to ADA, donor, and other designated parking areas
  • Emergency Procedures: communicating and enforcing fire evacuation, shelter-in-place, active shooter, hazmat, and other emergency health/safety protocols and procedures
  • Observe all workplace safety laws/guidelines and immediately notifying management of any safety concerns or injuries for patrons or employees alike
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements 

  • Availability to work extended evening/weekend work hours 
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have regular access to a motor vehicle or have other reliable means of transportation to and from the Music Hall 
  • Operate and ascend/descend a ladder 
  • Move and position items up to 30 pounds 
  • Position oneself into and out of crawl spaces and confined areas 
  • Traverse the Music Hall and surrounding Fair Park areas multiple times in one shift/day 
  • Stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time 
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in scheduling and directed tasks 
  • Demonstrated professional and courteous manner and communication
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with and consistent access to basic computer hardware and software including ability to use a laptop and smartphone/tablet, checking email/workplace messaging/scheduling software, etc.
  • Undergo basic introductory and ongoing trainings in safety, security, customer service, and other trainings as assigned

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Fluency in Spanish or any other language
  • Security or customer service experience
