Schedule:                        Weekday (7a-5p) and select nights/weekend shift availability required

Location:                         On-Site in the Music Hall at Fair Park. No remote work anticipated.

Estimated End:             April 21, 2024 (extension of position TBD)

 

Position Summary:

 

Join a maintenance/facility of five full time employees dedicated to the smooth operation and careful maintenance of the nearly 100 year old historic Music Hall at Fair Park. Each year, the venue hosts hundreds of touring Broadway, concerts, and other live performance events attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors, artists, technicians, and administrative personnel. You would be responsible for various maintenance and repair duties, event set-up, as well as limited building security tasks in coordination with designated security staff members/vendors.

 

This position requires regular on-site work in and around the Music Hall at Fair Park based on event schedules. Familiarity with Fair Park and its surrounding neighborhoods is strongly preferred.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Locking and unlocking of building and select rooms/areas as required by regular building and ticketed as well as office event schedules and needs
  • Room and event set-up including moving of furniture and equipment throughout the building and to/from off-site storage areas
  • Performing scheduled maintenance throughout the facility: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other equipment as assigned
  • Executing and coordinating other maintenance and repair tasks directly and through outside vendors
  • Performing emergency repairs and alerting management to any urgent safety or functional facility matters
  • Performing and coordinating with environmental services staff on surface and HVAC cleaning/sanitation tasks throughout the building
  • Coordinating deliveries and facilitating needs of Music Hall vendors and stakeholders including the food/beverage operator, elevator repair/maintenance, pest control, security and janitorial vendors, and other individuals performing construction/repair tasks in and around the building
  • Observing all workplace safety laws and rules and immediately notifying management of any safety concerns or injuries

 

Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Availability to work extended and night/weekend work hours
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have regular access to a motor vehicle or other reliable means of transportation to and from the Music Hall
  • Operate and ascend/descend a ladder
  • Move and position items up to 50 pounds
  • Position oneself into and out of crawl spaces and confined areas
  • Traverse the Music Hall and surrounding Fair Park areas multiple times in one shift/day
  • Stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time
  • One year experience with safe and effective use of basic hand tools such as hammers, saws, wrenches, and sockets
  • One year experience with safe and effective use of basic power tools such as drills, circular saws, and sanders
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability in scheduling and directed tasks
  • A professional and courteous manner and communication in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Familiarity with basic computer hardware and software including ability to use a laptop and smartphone/tablet, check email, track service tickets/requests, and scheduling/task management software

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

 

  • Experience maintaining or repairing basic electrical, plumbing and/or HVAC equipment
  • Experience in a commercial building maintenance setting
  • Certification or other documented experience in COVID-19 and other safety compliance
