Position Summary:

The Food Farmacy Manager will be responsible for overseeing the launch and operation of the Greater Danbury Food

Farmacy, while effectively managing grant funding and ensuring compliance with grant requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including project staff, finance, and program managers, and community partners

to ensure projects are executed efficiently and grant funding is utilized effectively.

The Food Farmacy is a new food as medicine initiative created in partnership with United Way of Western

Connecticut and Nuvance Health that seeks to improve health outcomes and food security amongst Nuvance Health

Danbury clients experiencing diet-related comorbidities who also screen positive for food insecurity. The Food

Farmacy will be located with the Connecticut Institute for Communities (CIFC) Danbury Community Center in

downtown Danbury and will work in partnership with a number of community stakeholders to provide nutrition

counseling and wraparound services, a grocery-style food pantry, retail produce benefits, and nutrition and culinary

education.


The anticipated start date for this position is July 3, 2023 and is a one-year grant-funded position.


Essential Functions

Project Management

Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure a successful Food Farmacy launch.

Monitor project progress in collaboration with CIFC staff.

Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members, stakeholders, and partners.

Prepare regular progress reports and presentations to provide project updates to the biweekly Food Farmacy committee.

Operations Management

Oversee food procurement and delivery in collaboration with community partners. · Manage grocery-style food pantry day-to-day operations with support from Nuvance Health and Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut

Ensure positive client experience, including leading intake, onboarding, on-site pantry shopping, usage of the Healthy Savings produce benefits at local participating retailers and coordination of additional wraparound services.

Coordinate nutrition education and cooking's with community partners, including event support and kit administration.

Oversee on-site staff, including social worker, registered dietitian, and prospective volunteers

Assist patients in accessing wrap-around social services in partnership with the Food Farmacy’s social worker.

Grant Administration 

Oversee the administration of US Department of HHS grant funding, reporting, and compliance.

Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets and track expenditures.

Ensure compliance with grant regulations and guidelines, including reporting and documentation requirements.

Monitor grant progress and deliverables, identifying and addressing any deviations. Assist in preparing reports for HHS.

Preferred Experience and Education

Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, project management, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.

Ability to communicate with multiple audiences in a culturally competent manner. · Understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by marginalized communities, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, class, ability, immigration status, gender, and their intersections.

Proven experience in food procurement and inventory management. 

Demonstrated experience in project facilitation, management, and federal grant compliance, including the ability to create processes and systems.

Experience building and effectively maintaining working relationships within your local community.

Bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred.

Excellent technology skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint); Google Suite (Forms, Drive); and familiarity and/or skills in graphic design are a plus

Experience and/or knowledge of the Greater Danbury community a plus. 

Understanding of federal grant administration and management a plus.

Valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation to travel throughout Greater Danbury. 

Requires occasional weekend and evening work.
