Position Summary

The Community Schools Coordinator (CS Coordinator) is a full-time position responsible for the facilitation, implementation, integration, coordination, and connectivity of the community school strategy at the site level. The CS Coordinator is responsible for aligning the process of coordinated support and works to ensure the core objectives of the project are maintained. Along with the school administrator, community focus groups, and program advisory councils, this position partners with service providers and is responsive to the needs assessment to coordinate the non-academic components of the program. The CS Coordinator is a position created to elevate the voices of teachers, school staff, parents, school-family council, community members, and students to design and implement programs and services at the school that meet the needs of students, their families, and the community.


Essential Functions

•Develop and maintain structures and processes to improve and promote school based and community.

• Communication with all members of the community including parents, caregivers, community partners, school staff, and independent grant evaluators.

• Develop quality, engaging, and socially motivating programs and services in response to needs assessment.

• Partner with school staff to elevate parent, student, and community voice to influence broader decision-making structures.

• Supervise the collection of data by service providers aligned to program objectives.

• Coordinate city, school district, and community-based organization services at school site.

• Develop positive professional rapport with school principal and administrators, teachers and staff, families, community members and partner organizations.

• Participate in applicable school structures and effectively contribute to the coordination of existing and new support resources.

• Collaborate with partners to develop programming and activities for students and their families including family nights, after-school programs, and student clubs.

• Manage e-newsletter, social media, and website.

• Plan and implement activities to connect families with services such as food distribution, healthcare resources, early childhood information, and high school transition events

• Attend community school trainings, conferences and ongoing professional development.

• Familiar with and advances a trauma informed perspective in approaching services planning, implementation and in facilitating linkages to address student

4.   Required Experience and Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in human service or education field; Master’s degree in Social Work or other human service field preferred.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

• Experience completing or applying a community resource and needs assessment.

• Experience working with schools preferred.

·        Life Experience: Success in understanding and/or overcoming challenges of poverty required. Individuals who can show a strong connection to the City of Stamford are preferred.

• Understands and respects the diversity of families’ economic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds and situations.

• Computer literacy to include the use of Microsoft Word and Google applications
