United Way of Western CT is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Grant Writer This is a full-time position based in Danbury, CT office with Mondays and Fridays remote.

Job Posting 

The Grant Writer will identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies on behalf of United Way of Western Connecticut and Stamford Cradle to Career. Primary responsibilities include researching funding opportunities, preparation of proposals, grant applications, and grant reports. This position reports to the Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing.  

Responsibilities: 

 

      • Develop and maintain an understanding of United Way and Stamford Cradle to Career’s programs and the portfolio of work that may lend itself to public and private funding. 
      • Work with Senior Management and Community Impact team to understand fundraising priorities. 
      • Increase UWWC and Stamford Cradle to Career’s pipeline by sourcing new funding opportunities that are aligned with the mission. 
      • Work with colleagues to ensure that we accurately record written funder summaries in CRM. 
      • Identify, secure, and renew foundation, government, and corporate grant funding. 
      • Review, recommend, and implement strategies for all government and private RFP solicitations. 
      • Produce compelling letters of inquiry, grant proposals, and reports in collaboration with program staff 
      • Coordinate the proposal development process, engaging program colleagues when their content expertise. 
      • Coordinate with the Finance Team to ensure that grant proposal budgets are ready for timely submission. 
      • Maintain a calendar of expected grant award notifications. 
      • Collaborate to ensure that UWWC acknowledges grant awards through multi-channel approach. 
      • Work with CI and Marketing to summarize accomplishments for sharing with funders. 
      • Provide regular updates on grant seeking for Senior Management and Board of Directors. 
      • Maintain accurate and complete grant records in fundraising software and other databases. 
      • Assist in developing systems and processes for grant management tracking. 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

      • Bachelor’s degree required. 
      • 3-5 years of grant writing and budget development experience with both private and public grants. 
      • Previous federal grant application, submission, approval, and management of funds. 
      • Demonstrated track record of securing new funding opportunities. 
      • Ability to thrive in creative, dynamic, deadline-driven environment with flexibility. 
      • Excellent research, writing, and inter-personal skills. 
      • Organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes. 
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as database management skills. 
      • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. 
      • Network of relationships with public and private funders. 

  

Salary: $60,000
