United Way of Western CT is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Events and Volunteer Manager.  This is a part-time, 20-hours per week, position based in Danbury, CT. Note, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, staff are temporarily working on a hybrid schedule with three days onsite and two days remote.

The Events and Volunteer Manager will be responsible for planning, leading, and executing United Way of Western Connecticut’s volunteer engagement and events management program. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituents such as staff, board members, committees, donors, vendors, and community partners. Must be a highly self-motivated, professional, and highly organized. This position reports to the Vice President, RD, and Marketing at United Way of Western CT. Exceptional references.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Fundraising Events

 

                 Manage minimum of two annual fundraising events, including a 5k and golf tournament.

                 Source and secure event speakers, work with vendors, create menus, décor, programming and event flow, collateral materials, gifts, and more to ensure all events are successful. 

                 Track event expenses, monitor, and reconcile event budgets.

                 Utilize CRM and other event management tools to manage invitations, create registration pages, collect payments if applicable, track RSVPs, and finalize attendee information.

                 Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external constituents to ensure effective execution of events.

                 Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. 

                 Coordinate all set up and break down at event site.

                 Solicit and manage volunteers for events, as needed.

                 Develop sponsorship plans and secure sponsorships in collaboration with Resource Development team.

                 Work with marketing team to provide promotion content.

                 Perform additional duties as assigned and assist with special projects as assigned.

 

 

Volunteer Management

                 Coordinate annual Day of Action volunteer experience for corporate partners and work with nonprofit agencies.

                 Develop and manage community engagement calendar and corresponding volunteer opportunities for corporate partners.

                 Develop customized corporate volunteer opportunities as needed.

                 Manage holiday food drives and distribution.

                 Oversee Danbury SAVE program, working with the City of Danbury and nonprofit partners to ensure program success.

                 Build strong relationships nonprofit agencies, community partners, public schools, local businesses, and more to support volunteer engagement opportunities.

 

 Required Experience and Education

  •      BA/BS degree and two to three years of volunteer and event management experience.
  •         Proven track record successfully creating, managing, and implementing events and working with outside vendors and sponsors.
  •         Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  •         Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
  •         Excellent attention to detail, experience in event planning and ability to work cross departmentally.
  •         Proficient computer skills and knowledge of relevant software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite, online meeting platforms (i.e., Zoom) and web platforms.
  •         Ability to work effectively with donors, vendors, staff, community partners, volunteers, and the public.

 

This position will pay $30, per hour, and will be paid By-weekly.
