Head of Social Impact

Reports to: Co-CEO

Work Location: New York, NY

Work Hours: 9:30am - 6:30pm

Work Schedule: Hybrid (2 -3 per week in NYC office)

Base Salary: 250K 

Additional compensation: Commission + annual discretionary bonus

Travel: approx. 25% - 35%

Overview

The Lede Company’s Social Impact Division provides strategic advisory and consulting services to talent, philanthropists, brands and NGOs to help them implement and accelerate their advocacy, policy, philanthropy and impact efforts toward a more sustainable and equitable world. Serving as a trusted partner, Lede’s Social Impact team co-develops and designs innovative campaigns and initiatives that are purpose- and insight-driven and focused on advancing a cause, program, partner or issue on a global scale.

 

Lede seeks an experienced social impact strategist and successful business development leader to join our team as Head of Social Impact.

 

The Head of Social Impact will have responsibility for pitching and closing new partnerships; leading and mentoring a team of motivated social impact practitioners; growing SI’s capabilities and offerings; and, working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure SI taps into the strength of Lede’s resources.

 

The Head of Social Impact oversees the creation, implementation and delivery of strategic programs for clients seeking to drive social impact and change. As Head of Social Impact, you will provide expert guidance, research, and thought leadership to help those clients identify key social issues, design impactful initiatives, and measure the effectiveness of their social impact efforts.

 

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Cultivate relationships with community partners, nonprofits, thought leaders, talent and brands to strengthen Lede’s visibility in the social impact landscape 

  • Monitor best practices and trends in order to identify and pursue new opportunities that grow Lede’s social impact capabilities and strategy

  • Utilize Lede’s existing client relationships to drive new Social Impact partnerships

  • Manage and execute incoming RFPs 

  • Create and expand relationships to drive new and supplemental opportunities

Client Management

  • Lead the ideation, strategic planning and implementation of clients’ social impact initiatives, fundraising, and other campaigns 

  • Build trust and act as an advisor to clients and internal teams, gain support and ownership of all key stakeholders to execute social impact project plans on time and budget

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their goals, values, and social impact objectives

  • Develop and implement customized social impact strategies that align with the client's mission and target audiences

  • Provide expert advice on integrating social impact initiatives into clients’ core business strategies and operations

  • Assist clients in designing and managing effective measurement frameworks to track and evaluate the impact of their social initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the client's organization to ensure seamless implementation of social impact initiatives

  • Offer guidance in selecting and working with external partners, NGOs, or community organizations to amplify social impact efforts

  • Deliver clear and persuasive presentations to clients, effectively conveying complex concepts and strategies

  • Communicate with clients regularly to set project expectations, negotiate deliverables and obtain updates on the client's business - and proactively address client and agency challenges

  • Consistently remain on the pulse of emerging social impact trends, research, and regulatory requirements to provide clients with the latest insights and guidance

  • Manage social impact strategy and calendar, overseeing multiple work streams across channels

  • Manage project scope & define project resource requirements

People Management

  • Coach, supervise and mentor the team while building trust and acting as an advisor

  • Collaborate with Co-CEOs, COO, Head of HR to drive employee engagement, performance and development

  • Guide, advise, assist and inspire all team members with the explicit goal of developing the next generation of social impact talent at the agency

Operations

  • Build upon Lede’s own social impact strategy and vision

  • Be an internal social impact thought leader on issues that affect The Lede Company and its employees

  • Assess team workflow and bandwidth while developing and implementing operational efficiencies as needed

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience working on global CSR or ESG efforts or complex social impact initiatives or on issues related to sustainability, SDGs, DE&I or philanthropy

  • Professional work experience at an agency/strategic consulting firm or similar setting

  • Expertise building & supporting cross-sector partnerships, programs or campaigns with diverse stakeholders (talent, government champions, private sector partners, philanthropists and/or NGOs)

  • Expertise designing strategic social impact initiatives, policy campaigns or cause partnerships

  • An experienced account manager or consultant with several years experience leading multiple clients and/or teams

  • Exceptional knowledge of social impact trends, frameworks, and measurement methodologies

  • Someone that thrives in an multifaceted and fast-paced client-service environment

  • A detail-oriented and capable generalist who is skilled in adapting to program and clients needs

  • Demonstrated ability to lead large business opportunities to a successful close

  • Stellar communication and presentation skills with the ability to presents ideas with clarity and persuasive impact

  • Ability to manage with optimism and calm in the context of a complex, fluid business

  • Exceptional judgment with clients & internal teams

  • A true entrepreneur and self-starter

  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data and information into actionable recommendations

  • A leader who can coalesce and motivate a team of professionals and lead with influence across a sector and beyond
