Job Summary: The Career and Technical Education Program Manager will lead various projects and programming on our K-12 Education team. The position combines teaching and administration, including training CTE instructors.

  • Deliver high-quality and rigorous in-class CTE programs to NYC school students during the school year. Educators are responsible for lesson materials prep and delivery. Programming may be delivered in person or remotely.

  • Manage program coordination of CTE program.

a. Overseeing communication with the schools in collaboration with the Director of K-12 education

b. Scheduling programs 

c. Designing, distributing, and analyzing program evaluations

d. Coordinating with Education Program Associate on internships and career events

e. Order supplies, inventory and organize supplies, coordinate deliveries to school partners

  • Train CTE Instructors on how to deliver the solar CTE program.

  • Deliver a 6-week intensive high school summer school program focused on clean energy careers from July through mid-August.

  • Deliver professional development training to teachers who participate in the solar CTE program.

  • Oversee program content and ensure that the curriculum is relevant. 

  • Collaborate with the education team on program and curriculum design for GDL STEM content.

  • Track and record activities delivered to schools and teachers.

  • Occasionally support Solar One workforce team with training programs. 

  • Occasionally support the Solar One STEM team with workshops.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 

  • At least three years of experience teaching high school students.oom experience preferred.

  • Content knowledge and/or experience in some or all of the following areas: climate change, engineering, solar photovoltaics, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable building.

  • Interest and passion in teaching about sustainability and climate action technologies. Willingness and ability to learn new content quickly.

  • Some experience delivering professional development training to teachers.

  • Experience with curriculum development.

  • Knowledge of anti-racist and culturally responsive pedagogy is strongly preferred.

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage administrative projects such as ordering supplies and scheduling programs.

  • Demonstrated success in communicating with partner organizations and individuals to build and maintain strong partnerships.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong customer service skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook, and/or Google Suite, including Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheet, and Drive.

  • Maturity and ability to work independently.

  • Must pass a background check and clear DOE fingerprinting.
