Initially founded in 2004 to manage Stuyvesant Cove Park, a two-acre native plant park and a small environmental education center, Solar One has grown into an award-winning organization with a thriving array of programs. The Director of Human Resources will develop, implement and manage our HR strategy and initiatives focusing on benefits, performance management, talent management, onboarding, compensation analysis, HR policies & procedures, payroll, and day-to-day HR administrative functions.
Responsibilities:
Talent Management:
-Manages the talent acquisition and onboarding efforts for all employees
-Communicates with staff regarding all policies and procedures
-Develops and reports on organizational HR metrics, including recruitment, retention, and attrition-related statistics, to the COO & CEO and as needed across the organization.
-Responsible for exit interviews, yearly employee satisfaction surveys
Compensation Analysis:
-Helps to develop competitive salary offers which are informed by Solar One's salary matrix and salary survey data
-Supports ongoing compensation processes and practices in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team
Policies & Procedures:
-Collaborates with the Leadership team on policy development and revision of the employee handbook.
-Develops new policies and procedures as needed by a growing organization
Employee Relations and Performance Management:
-Guides managers on employee relations issues
-Develop innovative approaches and solutions to employee relations matters
-Leads the annual performance management process and guides all employees on policies and best practices to foster a supportive culture
HR Administration
-Manage our existing HR systems. Support our employees from the day they're hired to the day they leave; this includes managing onboarding, benefits, parental leave, our 401(k), HR compliance, and relationships with external vendors such as our PEO and 401(k) administrator.
-Assist the Finance Director with Bi-monthly payroll

Requirements:
- Commitment to Solar One's mission
- 7+ years of progressive and successful HR experience
- Prior experience with HR-focused equity and inclusion initiatives created to strengthen organizational culture
- Previous experience overseeing and supporting payroll and benefits functions
- Knowledge of common HRIS systems or platforms
- Proven ability to build strong relationships across all levels and functions of the organization
- Sound judgment and commitment to discretion and confidentiality
- High level and effective interpersonal as well as oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
- SHRM-SCP or equivilant certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive and successful HR experience
- Experience with TriNet a plus
Pay and Benefits
Position Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Starting Annual Salary: $90K-110K
