Project Background
Solar One is partnering with the Association for Energy Affordability (AEA) and the Center for New York City Neighborhoods (CNYC) as well as other partners to launch the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Hubs for The Bronx & Brooklyn. These hubs are part of a larger State-wide effort to connect New Yorkers to the Clean Energy Economy. The Bronx and Brooklyn Clean Energy Hubs help connect New Yorkers, including renters, homeowners, job seekers, and building owners to clean energy opportunities and resources. Upon program launch, the Hubs will connect program participants with a range of services.

One part of Solar One’s role in the Brooklyn and Bronx hubs will be to support equitable workforce development efforts in NYC to ensure more New Yorkers have access to jobs and training opportunities in the growing clean energy industry. 


Job Summary

Solar One is in search of a Program Manager to facilitate our Clean Energy Hub Workforce Program. The position is hybrid. The Manager will work remotely 2-3 days a week, and spend a few days per week at our office, or on-site at locations in Brooklyn and the Bronx for events.  Occasional weekend and evening work will be required for job fairs and outreach events. 


Main job responsibilities include:

      • Facilitate and lead weekly BK/BX Workforce team meetings with partners from multiple organizations including Solar One, The Center for NYC Neighborhoods, The HOPE Program, and Association for Energy Affordability. 

      • Design outreach materials for Brooklyn and Bronx residents to promote the hub’s workforce services

      • Connect Brooklyn and Bronx residents to services including clean energy job training, job fairs, and job opportunities

      • Plan and implement job fairs in Brooklyn and the Bronx 

      • Work with team members to follow up with Brooklyn and Bronx residents interested in learning about clean energy careers

      • Manage in-coming leads through the Clean Energy Hub website and through other Hub outreach events

      • Collaborate across teams at Solar One and with partner organizations 

      • Complete data tracking and reporting for NYSERDA through Salesforce


        Qualifications and Skills 

        Successful candidates for this role should be able to demonstrate the following:


        Subject Area Expertise Required

        • 2-5 years working in the clean energy sector and/or in workforce development 

        • Event planning

        • Experience building trusting relationships based on mutual collaboration with community members in historically marginalized communities

        • Experience collaborating with multiple organizations 

        • Project management 

        • Experience working in the 5 boroughs in NYC

        • Fluent/conversational in more than one language is preferred but not required


        Technical Skills

        • Basic Computer skills, including Microsoft office and G-suite. 

        • Direct and clear written/verbal communication skills

        • Experience with Salesforce is preferred but not required

        • Competence researching and learning new skills and tools, as needed.

        Pay and Benefits

        This position is Full Time / Exempt 

        Pay starting at $67,000-$72,000 per year based on experience
