Job Summary 

The STEM Education Program Manager will be responsible for launching an energy literacy summer camp for elementary and middle school students in Brooklyn, Syracuse, and Albany during summer 2026. Each camp will support 50 students from underserved communities. This is a new initiative for Solar One and will require considerable program development and management experience. This position is mostly remote, though they will be asked to report into the NYC office periodically. Applicants should live within commuting distance of NYC. The position will require occasional travel to Albany and Syracuse and may require 1-3 weeks of travel during the camp in July. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Partner development- identifying camp locations in target cities, touring facilities, and maintaining partnerships with camp facilities

  • Creating recruitment materials and initiating outreach to families, local community hubs, and  CBOs in each geographic region

  • Creating and organizing enrollment documents in Salesforce to ensure participants have all necessary documentation. 

  • Meeting regularly with program funders, ensuring that we are meeting programmatic goals and expectations

  • Serving as camp Director for one of the sites for 1 week during the summer of 2026

  • Coordinating food, transportation, supplies, field trips, and other programmatic logistics for each camp

  • Distributing and analysing the program evaluation for each program

  • Collaborating with the education team on curriculum development

  • Assist with hiring and onboarding seasonal teaching assistants to be at the camp.

  • During Fall and Winter, there will be opportunities for other projects that support the education team, as needed. 

 

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred in education or related fields.

  • Three to five years of experience in program management in an educational environment or a camp director position. 

  • Experience working with children in underserved urban communities.

  • Basic graphic design experience, such as with Canva, is a plus.

  • Demonstrated success in communicating with partner organizations and individuals to build and maintain strong partnerships.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong customer service skills. 

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Exce,l PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Suite, including Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheet, and Drive.

  • Teaching experience is a plus.

Pay and Benefits

Pay starts at $75,000-$80,000 per year.
