Who We Seek
Hispanic Federation is seeking Community Outreach Canvassers to support community outreach through local, community focused events; hotspot locations; door knocking, and through phone and text messaging services. The Community Outreach Canvasser will work closely with the Hispanic Federation Team to create a meaningful impact in community outreach to ensure specific, underserved communities participate fully in their civic duty, specifically around voter registration and GOTV (Get Out the Vote) campaigns.
The successful candidate is comfortable speaking to community members in English and Spanish, understands the importance of community engagement in the civic process, and can adhere to protocols and procedures as directed. The canvassers will report to the Canvass Manager and may take directions from the QC coordinator.
Position Details: Part-time, temporary position (July 8- October 4, 2024) Location: Miami Dade, Florida
Salary: $22/hr. up to 28 hours per week.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in on-site programming, engaging with community members, and educating them about topics of interest to their voter engagement, health, and local / community issues.

Assist individuals in completing voter registration forms in English and / or Spanish, ensuring forms are completed fully and correctly.

Support voter registration work in key locations within the community and in community events as part of outreach efforts.

Partake in virtual phone banking and texting via different online tools used by Hispanic Federation.

Attend meetings and training regarding voter registration work and best practices.

Report all progress to Canvass Manager, QC Coordinator and the greater HF Team, detail any and all problems in carrying out duties.

Inspect all voter registration forms before delivering Quality Control.
Skills and Qualifications

Experience with community outreach and engaging Florida’s diverse population on issues relevant to HF’s mission (voter registration, health access, language access, community support, etc) is required.

Have access to reliable, consistent internet and have access to technology to engage in required technology and applications properly.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and as required during community and engagement events.

Comfort in public speaking, presenting, and engaging individuals in a social setting is required.

Strong understanding of Latino and social justice issues.

High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail, and high degree of initiative.

Bilingual is a strong asset (Spanish and English)

Must be available to work weekends and evenings.

Can adhere to HF’s safety protocols and procedures.

Access to reliable transportation to arrive to assignments on time.
