Hispanic Federation (HF) is the nation's premier Latino nonprofit membership organization. Founded in 1990, HF works to empower and advance the Latino community and its institutions through programs, advocacy, grantmaking, disaster relief, and capacity building. Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation seeks a Contract Specialist to oversee and manage contract-related work across HF’s offices. The specialist will support contracts between Hispanic Federation and its subgrantees as it relates to private sector and public sector grant making and contracting. The specialist will working closely with programmatic staff, compliance staff, and the finance team to ensure contracts are legally sound and appropriate for the program goals. The specialist will also ensure that all contracts are in compliance with any and all public sector regulations and is willing to research and apply the most appropriate language to ensure compliance.

The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, a self-starter, and able to accurately complete tasks necessary for successful and timely grant acquisition, distribution, and management. This position reports to the Vice President for Grantmaking and Capacity Building and works closely with the Grants Manager and Capacity Building Team.

This position is a hybrid position and will require 50% onsite presence to the HF Office which is their home base.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including program managers, finance teams, and legal counsel, to ensure clear communication and understanding of contract requirements and objectives. 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, such as government agencies, additional funding sources, and external partner organizations and stakeholders; foster positive relationships and effective collaboration.  

  • Collaborate with program managers to identify and understand contractual needs and develop appropriate contract structures. 

  • Develop strong contracting protocols, ensuring all contracts drafted are properly vetted and reviewed by all relevant and required parties, namely outside legal counsel, program staff, and compliance teams. 

  • Issue finalized contracts (subcontractors and consultants) and track their progress ensuring completeness and accuracy  

  • Assist in funding and payments on assigned subcontracts 

  • Communicate with grantees, as needed 

  • Prepare, finalize, and submit contract reports as necessary to the appropriate government agencies 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date (electronic and hard-copy) contract records  

  • Prepare and present monthly reports (contracting spreadsheet) on contract status, including key metrics, compliance issues, and performance indicators to share with internal stakeholders 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in administration or law; a minimum of three (3) years of professional experience is required, ideally in contract management and oversight in the nonprofit sector or with government contracts. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to synthesize contract language and prepare benchmarks for deliverables. 

  • Strong financial and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. 

  • Must be able to function well in a fast-paced work environment, able to respond to multiple requests for assistance simultaneously. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required; experience with Blackbaud Grantmaking or other contract tracking is an asset. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible and collaborative spirit. 

  • Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred. 

  • Ability to prioritize and assess competing deadlines to ensure programmatic success.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Compensation comes with a robust benefits package with fully subsidized medical, dental, vision insurance, 403(B) retirement plan – eligible for a company match, access to flexible spending and pre-tax commuter benefits. Full-time regular employees are also provided with fifteen (15) vacation days, four (4) personal days, and paid sick time. 
 
HF is a hybrid work environment with the opportunity to work from home 50% of the time.
