Position Description

Hispanic Federation is seeking a dedicated and experienced Voter Engagement and Outreach Manager to bolster community outreach efforts in South Florida. The Voter Engagement and Outreach Manager will be responsible for supervising community engagement canvassers, registering individuals to vote, forging partnerships with organizations, and ensuring the high standards of Hispanic Federation’s voter outreach campaign and other program deliverables. Additionally, the manager will oversee the work of canvassers, providing training, scheduling, quality assurance for all submitted forms, and facilitating voter education sessions with partner organizations while actively participating in community events.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in supervision and campaign involvement, particularly within South Florida. Reporting to the Director for Community Organizing and Engagement and collaborating closely with the Florida State Director, the Canvass Manager will address any issues arising during canvassing, provide support in quality control (QC), and handle reported issues through QC processes. Furthermore, the manager will collaborate with the director to develop a comprehensive master plan for voter education, Hispanic Federation Florida programmatic initiatives, and mobilizations.

 

Position Details: Full Time, until December 6, 2024

Start Date: March 20, 2024

Compensation: $25.00/hr. up to 40 hours per week

 

Qualifications

  • Cultivate and sustain key relationships and partnerships with community leaders and community-based organizations in Hispanic Federation’s network.
  • Work with HF subgrantees to coordinate with them to meet the deliverables and ensure engagement and branding.
  • Participate in on-site programming, engaging with community members and educating them about topics related to voter engagement, health, and local / community issues.
  • Assist in developing a bilingual civic engagement curriculum, content, and materials geared toward increasing civic education and participation in the Latino community.
  • Assist individuals in completing voter registration forms in English and Spanish.
  • Deliver completed voter registration forms to the supervisor of elections after they go through the QC process.
  • Travel to various locations to register voters in designated counties.
  • Utilize Civic Engagement digital technology and databases, including the Voter Activation Network (VAN), and peer-to-peer text messaging tools.
  • Manage quality control (QC) operations, review voter registration applications for correctness, report results to the Hispanic Federation upon request, and perform quality control operations when needed.

When working with canvassers:

  • Manage distribution of PPE in conjunction with the Health Coordinator, snacks, and other equipment to all canvassers in their designated counties.
  • Inspect all voter registration forms before assessing for quality assurance.
  • Report to the satellite office or canvass launch location daily.
  • Find new hotspots to register voters.
  • Ensure canvassers clock in and clock out in our timekeeping system.
  • Perform site checks to ensure canvassers are following rules and best practices.
  • Supervise canvassers and oversee their work while on the field; provide support, train, mentor, and motivate canvassers.
  • Drive canvassers to different locations.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of experience with community outreach and engaging Florida’s diverse population around access to services, experience in Miami-Dade County is an asset.
  • Experience supervising teams and managing trainings and schedules, ensuring teams are having a positive impact.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and as required during community and engagement events.
  • Experience managing tracking systems, executing data entry, and analysis of data is a plus.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office, GSuite, and other technical tools.
  • Comfort driving and possess a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Strong understanding of Latino and social justice issues.
  • Ability to speak a second language is ideal.
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings.
  • Must be able to adhere to Hispanic Federation’s COVID-19 safety plan.
