Who We Seek
The Hispanic Federation seeks a Human Resource Generalist to assist the Human Resources Department in New York City. Under the supervision of the Director for Human Resources, the HR Generalist will perform various activities in the areas of recruiting, orientation/onboarding, retention, policies, and procedures, reporting and employee relations for all HF offices (NY, DC, CT, IL, FL, NC, and Puerto Rico). The HR Generalist must be highly effective in terms of time-management, multi-tasking, and prioritization and have an interest in nonprofit management and administration.
The successful candidate will have an interest in human resources and labor relations. The position will require candidates to have strong writing and communication skills, experience with outreach and relationship management, and an interest in talent management. The position is a hybrid role available which will require reporting to the New York City Headquarters.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support recruitment for positions from drafting job descriptions, reviewing applications, scheduling initial screenings and managing the full recruitment process from start to finish.
- Manage the on-boarding process for new employees; arrange start dates, draft offer letters and employment agreements, ensure new hire paperwork is issued, and facilitate orientation within the organization and their department and teams.
- Manage all personnel files, ensure they are complete and within compliance for funder audits.
- Assist with the delivery of training programs and maintain a training matrix for all internal and external employee training.
- Assist with the preparation and updating of job descriptions.
- Work with Office Manager to administer safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for employees.
- Respond to routine employee HR inquiries.
- Optimizes data quality by conducting regular audits and ensuring employee data is kept up to date and accurate.
- Coordinate employee and manager training based on new implemented modules, support professional development requests.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required with at least two (2) year of experience with human resources or office administration.
- Exercise and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (Bilingual English/Spanish a plus).
- Strong customer service skills (phone and email).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a flexible and collaborative spirit.
- Exposure to HR policies and practices or ability to gain such knowledge.
- Must be able to function well in a fast-paced work environment, able to respond to multiple requests for assistance simultaneously.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to prioritize and work under deadlines.

Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience and set between $50,000 to $60,000; benefits package includes paid vacation, paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, and matching retirement plan.
