Who We Seek
Hispanic Federation seeks a Director of Civic Engagement & Organizing to manage its on-the ground civic engagement initiatives in New York City and supporting efforts in the Northeast. The Director will direct civic education, civic engagement, and community organizing. Additionally, they will be instrumental in supporting advocacy events with direct community engagement.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of outreach strategies, experience with communities of color – specifically Latina/e/o/x communities and be committed to Hispanic Federation’s mission. The position will provide opportunities to learn and will require the ability to remain flexible and adaptable in regard to work assignments.
Job Duties and Responsibilities: Civic Engagement
- Ensure the high quality and success of Hispanic Federation’s civic engagement programs
- Coordinate and implement HF’s civic engagement initiatives, including voter registration, voter education, and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) initiatives
- Recruit, train, supervise civic engagement staff and volunteers working on Civic Engagement initiatives
- Manage community engagement and organizing at voter registration drives, voter education events, and GOTV campaigns
- Utilize Civic Engagement digital technology and databases, including the Voter Activation Network (VAN), and peer-to-peer text messaging and phone banking tools.
- Support and ultimately oversee the creation of outreach strategies and manage campaigns with canvassers completing community outreach
- Oversee Civic Engagement budgets, provide financial reporting, and track expenses that are related to Civic Engagement programming, as needed
- Cultivate key relationships and partnerships with community leaders and community based organizations in Hispanic Federation’s network
- Assist with other Hispanic Federation events and initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BA/BS degree and demonstrated interest in not-for-profit, civic engagement, or community organizing
- A minimum five (5) years of experience in non-profit program management and/or advocacy work, experience working in Civic Engagement campaigns, preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required for community engagement, writing skills in Spanish, preferred.
- Self-starter with ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving situations
- Strong ability to develop work plans, manage budgets, set deadlines, oversee multiple projects and duties simultaneously, and prioritize assignments
- Excellent, well-developed verbal and writing skills are essential
- Ideal applicants will be efficient, results-oriented with high energy and exhibit an exceptional ability to work with others
- Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours during the duration of special projects
- Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $60,000- $75,000 and is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes fully subsidized medical, dental, vision insurance; access to flexible spending for medical and transportation; and a 403 (B) retirement plan available at start, with organization match after 6 months of service.
