Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation (HF) seeks a dynamic, engaged Vice President for Development Strategy to work closely with executive leadership on devising strong, sustainable fundraising strategies, create and implement workflows to ease inter- and intradepartmental work, and serve as a champion or HF’s work to funders, major donors, and foundation staff.

The successful candidate will be an individual who understands and is passionate about the mission and vision of HF, exemplifies its core values, can articulate its mission to donors and prospects in a way that both educates and compels them to give, and provide a vision for the growth of HF’s grant and individual donor portfolio. Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience meeting 8 figure annual fundraising goals utilizing multiple fundraising channels, experience in supervising an experienced team of grant writers and fundraisers, and an understanding of systems needed for organizational success in the fundraising arena.

Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President for Institutional Development, the Vice President for Development Strategy works closely with the executive team, including the President of Hispanic Federation, and the Board of Directors to manage all aspects of the Federation’s fundraising activities and initiatives. Hispanic Federation seeks an experienced fundraising professional with a demonstrated commitment to the Latino community.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Assess and support donor relationships and cultivation, including the Federation’s existing donor pipeline.
  • Support prospecting and tracking of all proposals across the Federation, ensure that the Development team is seeking funds with a strong programmatic match and setting clear framework and monitoring.
  • Review and refresh fundraising initiatives and develop a fundraising strategy and execution plan, which will include professional development and talent management for individual giving and major gifts.
  • Create fundraising strategies inclusive of appropriate events, initiatives and programmatic work that showcase the work and value of the Federation.
  • Support executive staff, board member and volunteers in all aspects of donor solicitation and stewardship.
  • Develop strong communications and recognition of donors and prospects to maintain and build the image of the Federation.
  • Leverage Federation board members to increase fundraising results and relationship building.
  • Manage the process to identify annual goal and objectives with senior leadership and ensure set goals and objectives are met in coordination with program leaders.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on the overall performance of fundraising against goals and strategic plan.

Revenue Development: As a member of the senior leadership team, the Vice President for Development Strategy will identify new opportunities to expand organizational funding from charitable or earned sources and design, plan and lead new fundraising initiatives based on well-crafted strategies. The VP will also support the Senior Vice President for Institutional  in ensuring we are managing all reports for grants and contracts, maintaining communications with key personnel from all funders, and timely in submitting requested proposals.

Donor Relations and Cultivation:  The Vice President for Development Strategy will institute best practices as needed while producing a comprehensive donor relations plan in of support organizational fundraising efforts and hire a team to execute their vision. The VP will foster a positive, ongoing relationship with donors and ensure that long-term relationships are forged and maintained through proactively educating donors on outcomes and results of HF’s efforts. The VP will oversee the development and management of donor cultivation and fundraising events and play a leading role in fundraising for the annual gala.

Leadership and Team Development: The Vice President for Development Strategy manages and nurtures the Development staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance; contributes to continued growth of organization through team development; participates in senior leadership team discussions and Board of Directors decisions. The VP also participates in Board meetings and serves as staff resource for the Board’s Fundraising Committee.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, minimum eight (8) years of fundraising and development experience in progressively responsible leadership positions, overseeing operational and performance outcomes
  • Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding measurable fundraising goals in a nonprofit environment
  • Strong background managing all aspects of fundraising including high net worth individuals, foundation and corporate relations, online outreach, and direct mail campaigns
  • Experience creating budgets and forecasting revenue over the course of the fiscal year
  • Proficiency with fundraising applications using available data to perform comprehensive donor data analysis and reporting
  • Strong understanding of data utilization and management, as well as the effective use of fundraising technology and data for strategic operations and decision-making
  • Experience supervising and managing a geographically distributed team with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, delegate responsibility, and inspire, engage and motivate staff.
  • Experience in the use of social media and social networking (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and technology (i.e. website) to communicate with donors, generate revenue, educate the public and broadcast mission

Education and Certifications

  • Four-year degree from an accredited college or university. Masters or advanced degree preferred.
  • Certification from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (ACFRE) or Certified Fundraising Executives (CFRE) is highly desired.

Compensation

The salary range for this position starts at $130,000-$150,000, and is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes fully paid medical, dental, vision insurance; access to flexible spending for medical and transportation; and a 403 (B) retirement plan available at start, with organization match after 6 months of service.
