Position – Technical Writer

Department – Marketing/Sales

Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, position will work closely with Engineering, Sales & Marketing teams to develop and communicate technically-oriented materials, such as: product specifications, product literature, as well as various forms of written and graphic content for new and existing products to ensure proper flow of information to customers, distributors, and end-users. This role will also work with the Technical Services team on customer technical issues and may be asked to analyze marketing, sales and technical materials associated with competitor’s products.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Writer tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • Create standardized product specification sheets with Engineering and Sales.
  • Create quick-start guides and long-form user manuals with Engineering and Sales.
  • Coordinate input on all product literature content between Sales, Engineering, and management staff.
  • Writing content and copy for spec sheets, manuals, quick guides, catalogs, website, white papers, case studies, and social media, as needed.
  • Review and track product changes as they flow out of engineering, owning process of updating collateral, and ensuring proper communication to other departments.
  • Research product statistics, such as competitive data, pricing, specifications, etc. as needed.
  • Undertake special studies as required, involving growth planning, new product applications, product modifications, product promotions, press releases and other public relations materials. 

Education and Skill Proficiencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required.
  • Technology exposure, knowledge and proficiency required. 
  • Video Technical background and knowledge is a strong plus.
  • Outstanding Written and Oral Communication Skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage priorities. Excellent computer skills required:  Microsoft - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Sharepoint.
  • Basic graphics program and platform skills a plus. 
  • Web and social media platform skills a plus.
  • JIRA (bug and customer issue management) and SalesForce (CRM) tool experience a plus.
