OVERVIEW
Association Analytics is the leading analytics solution provider in the association space. Our Analytics Engineers work at the intersection of business and data, and are the key technical staff members responsible for bringing our cloud-based analytics platform – Acumen – to life. As an Analytics Engineer you will be on a small team working directly with customers to translate their business needs and analytical requirements into working data products. A successful Analytics Engineer can work with teams of technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver analytical solutions that meet our customer’s business needs.
This role can be in the Arlington, VA HQ 2 days per week.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
An Analytics Engineer is responsible for the technical success of their client analytics projects. As the technical backbone of a small team of people with diverse skillsets you will own the process of developing analytical products for our customers, receiving inputs and assistance from others on the team along the way. Our customers will rely on you as their technical point of contact within Association Analytics and will lean on you for support and guidance throughout their analytics journey.
You will work closely with business teams to identify client requirements, providing technical input and validation during all phases of the delivery process. Analytics Engineers are highly encouraged to initiate or contribute to technical projects that remove barriers to delivery, especially so if it would help other teams solve a common problem.
JOB DUTIES
- Attending requirement gathering calls with customers alongside your team members and provide technical inputs as necessary.
- Designing, authoring, and maintaining data transformations written in Redshift SQL and dbt.
- Contributing models, documentation, and tests to our set of dbt packages.
- Contributing all new code to source control.
- Contribute data orchestration pipelines (DAGs) to Airflow.
- Performing quality control checks and validations on ETL pipelines.
- Deploying, configuring, and customizing Power BI datasets and reports.
- Fixing data issues raised by customers.
- Communicating frequently with your team and any project stakeholders.
- Performing code reviews for your peers.
- Monitoring dbt and PowerBI for pipeline refresh issues and responding to incidents as necessary.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
- Experience with cloud data warehouse technologies (preferably Amazon Redshift)
- Experience with data modeling concepts as they apply to data warehouses
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business teams
- Self-managing with the ability to make good decisions in the absence of complete information
- Hands on experience with data transformation tools (preferably dbt)
- Hands on experience with source control systems (preferably git/Github)
- Hands on experience with BI systems (preferably Microsoft Power BI)
- 2+ years of experience writing SQL
- 2+ years of experience with ETL pipelines
- 2+ years of experience building reports, notebooks, and/or dashboards in a data visualization tool
- Working knowledge of cloud technologies (preferably AWS)
- Experience building project plans to identify tasks, milestones, and deliverables
