Position Summary
Bay State College invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Business Administration.  Bay State seeks a business practitioner with expertise in quantitative analysis and experience in a broad range of business applications to join a bold and innovative team committed to student success, academic rigor, and impactful education.  We are looking for an organized and dedicated business practitioner who can develop relevant and vibrant courses in finance, accounting, and marketing and will prepare students to be future leaders of the global digital economy.

Reporting to the Program Chair of Management, the Assistant Professor in Business Administration works on a 12-month basis primarily located at our Boston campus while being able to visit and support the student needs at the Taunton campus as needed. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise students about the Business Administration program, guide course registration, and career preparation. 
  • Monitor student progress and expected graduation dates. 
  • Hold routine office hours.
  • In collaboration with Program Chair of Management, identify and provide additional support for at-risk students.
  • Develop plans and events to improve retention and time to graduation.
  • Teach in various delivery modes (on campus, online synchronous or asynchronous, or a mixture of delivery modes) as agreed with the Program Chair of Management and/or Dean of Professional Studies.
  • Develops and maintains a teaching load of 10 courses per year.
  • Adhere to all administrative deadlines such as final grades, attendance, mid-semester progress reports

  • Maintain attendance records

  • Collaborate with Admissions, Marketing, Student Services, and Career Services offices to aid in student recruitment, job placement, learning outcome assessment, and accreditation efforts of the College.
  • Participates in School activities such as commencement, student recruitment efforts, and information sessions to grow the School and the College.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Program Chair of Management and/or Dean of Professional Studies.


Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree required, Ph.D. preferred, in Business Administration or a closely related field.
  • Substantial business experience is essential for this position; business startup experience is a plus.
  • Understand the practice and industry needs in the digital economy, e.g., finance, analytics, enterprise applications, cryptocurrency, blockchain, and NFTs.
  • Comfortable with business analytics, data visualization, cloud services, Excel Macros, R, and Python.
  • Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard).

  • Able to translate employers’ needs into learning objectives, understand the needs of students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and academic readiness, and guide each student to their success.
  • Organization skills and ability to create rigorous courses aimed at challenging every learner and preparing them for highly qualified and rewarding careers in today’s global digital economy.


Working Conditions

  • Sedentary work. Employees may occasionally be required to exert up to 10 to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 
  • Normal office conditions. Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally.
