Position Overview
Bay State College invites applications for the Program Chair of Management. Reporting to the Dean of Professional Studies, the Program Chair of Management holds responsibility for the degree programs of the Associate in Applied Science in Business Administration and the Bachelor of Science in Management. The Chair oversees all program concentrations, including Accounting, Fashion Merchandising, Health Care Management, Digital Marketing, and Human Resource Management. This position will mainly be located at our Boston campus while being able to visit and support the student needs at the Taunton campus as needed.

Responsibilities

  • The oversight of staffing, curriculum, learning outcomes assessment, and strategic development of current programs.
  • Academic advising for students.
  • Support for student success and retention. 
  • Education of the broader Bay State community about the Department's programs and opportunities. 
  • Contribute to the development of courses in a variety of delivery modes (hybrid, in-person, online).  
  • Plan and administer a budget for the Division’s programs. 
  • Service through participation in committees and projects.
  • Collaborate in all accreditation efforts of the college.
  • Discipline-specific and/or pedagogically focused scholarship.
  • Maintain a teaching load of 12 credits per calendar year.
  • The hiring, mentoring, and evaluating of full- and part-time faculty members. 
  • Collaboration with the College’s Admissions, Marketing, Student Services, and Career Services departments to aid in successful student recruiting, placement, and learning outcomes.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Dean of Professional Studies or Chief Academic Officer. 


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Business or a closely related field is required. 
  • Successful collegiate-level teaching experience within the last 7 years.
  • Substantial professional business experience is essential for this position.
  • Able to demonstrable a comprehensive understanding of employer needs and their relation to postsecondary education.  


Working Conditions

    • Sedentary work. Employees may occasionally be required to exert up to 10 to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. 
    • Normal office conditions. Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
    • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally.
