Position Summary:

The Division of Professional Studies is looking for qualified adjuncts to instruct and facilitate meaningful learning in the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the learning environment.  Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, life-long learning, diversity, and ethics as well as personal and professional development. Course(s) could be taught in-person, hybrid in-person or hybrid synchronous online, or fully asynchronous online, depending on the needs of the program and the College. Appointments are made on a term-by-term basis, dependent on student enrollment and department curricular needs. Our campuses are located in Boston and Taunton, MA.

The Division of Professional Studies was created to develop leaders in the following fields: Criminal JusticeEntertainment ManagementFashion MerchandisingInformation Technology/Computer Science, and Management/Business Administration.

This is an "open pool" vacancy listing. The Dean of the Division and/or Program Chair(s) will review applications submitted when there is a specific need for part time adjunct to fill a course scheduled in the academic year. Please attach a letter of interest and resume when applying for any part time teaching position, specifying your area of expertise.

Teaching Responsibilities

·        Teach course(s)

·        Prepare course materials appropriate to courses taught

·        Assess student learning on a regular basis (bi-weekly)

·        Communicate with student advisors and/or Program Chairs regarding student performance

·        Maintain a professional educational environment

·        Submit syllabus at least one week prior to start of semester for Program Chair review

·        Maintain one scheduled office hour per week per course taught

·        Work collaboratively with the librarian on information literacy initiatives

·        Utilize technology in the classroom

·        Facilitate an environment where active learning is encouraged

 

Curriculum Responsibilities

·        Review and advise regarding course books as needed

·        Ensure that all courses taught follow standard syllabus format

·        Assist with departmental initiatives for students in need of developmental help

·        Assist with the development of books and materials for the college library

 

Administrative Responsibilities

·        Adhere to all administrative deadlines such as final grades, attendance, mid-semester progress reports

·        Maintain attendance records

·        Maintain files of current syllabi for all courses taught

·        Attend new faculty orientation

 

Experience and Qualifications

·        Bachelor’s degree with substantial discipline-focused work experience (Master’s degree preferred)

·        Demonstrated post-secondary teaching experience

·        Demonstrated understanding of current pedagogies that meet the needs of students at the associate and baccalaureate levels

·        Demonstrated understanding of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)


Working Conditions: 

  • Normal office conditions.
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels.
  • Work involves the operation of computer equipment and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally.
