Position overview:

The Director of Esports is a full-time position directly responsible for providing leadership and vision for the Esports program, including hiring and supervision of coaching staff, recruiting students, mentoring, coaching, and facility management. The Director is responsible for supervising a comprehensive program including current and future game offerings. This position will develop camps, partnerships and sponsorships to assist with developing a healthy community of gamers and enhancing revenue.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all aspects of the Esports program including but not limited to, qualified athlete recruiting, tryouts, team selection, practices, competitions, athlete eligibility, sponsorship development
  • Oversee all recruitment activities for competitive games and work with coaching staff to recruit and meet enrollment goals.
  • Manage scholarship allocation to ensure program profitability
  • Oversee Esports budget and monitor operating expenses
  • Work collaboratively across divisions to support student competitors, effectively recruit students, develop a healthy community of gamers, ensure quality partnership with IT to meet technology needs, and to cultivate sponsorship/donors as appropriate.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and Esports Handbook to support the Esports program
  • Recruit, select, train, and supervise Esports staff and assistant coaches
  • Monitor student success to ensure retention of students at the College.
  • Work closely with admissions regarding marketing, scheduling, and attending recruitment events
  • Create recruiting pipelines and partnerships with high schools
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to Esports’ student athletes
  • Maintain the Esports arena
  • Schedule study hours, practices, tournaments, games, combines and scrimmages.
  • Monitor student success to ensure retention of students at the College with academic resources.
  • Develop, market, and administer 1-2 summer camp/conference experience for youths that generate revenue for the College and build a pipeline for potential recruits
  • Serve as representative for esports on appropriate committees
  • Perform other tasks and duties assigned by the Dean of Students.


General Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years related Esports experience, of which a minimum of 3 years supervisory/management responsibilities. 
  • Broad knowledge of Esports.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.


Working Conditions

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 to 15 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Stooping and bending the body downward and forward.
  • Requires a high volume of time on your feet and sitting and performing on a gaming PC.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evening, overnight, and weekend hours.
