Position Overview

Committed to innovation and excellence in serving the needs of its students and the larger community, Bay State College seeks a Program Director of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program on the College’s campuses in Boston and Taunton, Massachusetts. The Program Director of PTA is the principal academic officer for the program and manages the department’s day-to-day operations, assisting students toward successful program completion and staffing theoom with faculty members who support the institution’s mission. The Program Director of Physical Therapy Assistant will report directly to the Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide academic leadership and select, train, develop, manage, and lead faculty and staff team members according to the guidelines provided by the Dean of Nursing& Health Sciences.
  • Maintain compliance with accreditation policies and procedures, including at least annual update of Systematic Evaluation Plan.
  • Teach up to nine credits per semester.
  • Provide support to college and community relations activities.
  • Plan and implement a program budget including personnel requirements, program expenses, and capital needs, in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with clinical sites for internships and employment opportunities for graduates
  • Participate in developing strategies to increase enrollment at both the Boston and Taunton campus.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree minimum is a must.
  • At least nine credits in Education to meet CAPTE requirements is a must.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in education theory and methodology, instructional design, student evaluation and outcome assessment, including the equivalent of nine academic (semester) credits of coursework in education foundations.
  • A current license/certification to practice in the jurisdiction where the program is located.
  • Didactic and/or clinical teaching experience.
  • Previous administrative experience in a clinical or academic setting required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with supervisor and staff populations.
  • Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Ability to listen to customers (e.g. staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • Sedentary work. Employees may occasionally be required to exert up to 10 to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Normal office conditions. Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day. May require travel to other locations occasionally.
