ABOUT THE ROLE

The Roland Foods in-house Creative team is looking for a Production Designer to join our office in New York! This role requires the designer to work in the office Tuesday through Thursday and be in the office as needed for projects. The ideal candidate should be a proactive and detail-oriented designer who is skilled at managing multiple projects with competing deadlines. He/she/they will collaborate cross-functionally with multiple internal teams and Roland Foods’ global suppliers to bring projects to realization. The Designer will develop a comprehensive understanding of Roland Foods’ brand strategy and strategic goals to ensure all output aligns with those objectives. The position requires a curious, flexible, and dedicated person who will strive for the ideal solutions with creative problem-solving and collaboration.

As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Team, and carries out the department’s production objectives as directed by Design Manager
  • Work closely with the FSQA, Supply Chain, and Legal teams
  • Respond to emails and internal messages in a timely and professional manner
  • Implement all edits for primary and secondary packaging files and routes for approvals
  • Prepare and release complete/accurate pre-press packaging files to suppliers for printing
  • Print and organize all color sample printouts when needed, and ship to suppliers via UPS
  • Carefully review and approve information and color accuracy on printer proofs in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain an organized library of final digital and printed label proofs
  • Instruct and approve carton markings and coding as required by the item’s selling channels
  • Collaborate with internal teams to handle private label projects with the Design Manager if needed
  • Assist in Photoshopping unit product photography if needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • Demonstration of previous experience in production design in the portfolio 
  • Proficient in Adobe CC Illustrator, working knowledge in Adobe CC Photoshop and InDesign
  • Extensive knowledge of print production
  • Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with a strong ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment both independently and as part of a team
  • A keen eye for visual details to ensure accuracy on label artwork
  • Able to work and correspond with internal and external partners in a respectful and professional manner
  • Maintain awareness of other projects handled by the greater team, as well as near-future projects
  • Work independently with little direction on recurring projects
  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills

Preferred

  • Proficient in Photoshopping packaging photos a plus
  • Experience with private label projects a plus
  • This role is a hybrid, be able to commute to work at Tuesday – Thursday, or more if a project requires

 

SALARY RANGE

Roland Foods hires exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways Roland Foods does that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $55,000 - $75,000.

Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferrable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion, the salary offered.
