ABOUT THE ROLE

Roland Foods is seeking a Manager, International Logistics who will be responsible for managing the flow of goods from our suppliers in more than 60 countries to our North American distribution network. The Manager, International Logistics will oversee the daily import operations from shipment booking to inbound via staff, daily reports, internal and external tracking systems, and communication with all logistical partners.  A successful candidate will be a strategic leader who is eager to maintain continuity of supply by replenishing and conducting procurement activities for a global portfolio of consumer goods items while managing and developing a team in a fast-paced, accountable environment.

As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Monday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the coordinate of the importation of shipments from our suppliers to multiple warehouses via various transportation modes (truck, ocean, air)
  • Liaise and cultivate relationships with our suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, and various other third-party partners to ensure timely and compliant shipments
  • Develop and monitor international routing instructions for suppliers while continuously evaluating process improvements and strategy
  • Act as the main point of contact for Customs Brokers on escalated duty rate issues to ensure efficient flow of the import process and maintain Customs/BSI file integrity 
  • Create and maintain detailed reporting on all import activities including order management, metrics reporting, and data analysis to identify issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Perform auditing of all documentation associated with shipments (BOLs, invoices, etc.) to ensure data accuracy
  • Own FOB/EXW Ocean Freight Rate Matrix to ensure all shipments are booked accordingly to the most updated routing guide
  • Own ASCI/ABI program including troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Negotiate and approve all contracted ocean freight rates with carriers on an annual basis and award shipment volume to carries by region/lane based on cost
  • Own the monthly International Logistics Scorecard Deck and presentation to senior leadership
  • Source new forwarders and steamship lines for optimal ocean freight costs
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams such as Replenishment, Sales, QA, and Finance to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies and daily operational issues

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience (supply chain, logistics, import, export, etc.)
  • Familiarity with governmental initiatives such as FDA prior notice, Customs C-TPAT program, Customs 10+2 initiative, 24 hour rule, and the Bioterrorism Act of 2002
  • Understanding of accounting, purchasing, logistical, material management, sales and warehousing functions and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability work cross-functionally, and multi-task in a dynamic and highly changing environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills required
  • Management experience preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (specifically Microsoft AX) a plus
