ABOUT THE ROLE

Roland Foods is seeking a Director, Global Logistics to oversee the distribution side of its business, including international logistics, warehouse operations, and inventory control.  The Director, Global Logistics is responsible for managing the company’s transportation of inbound products from Countries of Origin in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as well as the distribution throughout the Company’s network of third-party warehouses.  The ideal candidate must be a proactive solution seeker and have a strong background in logistics operations and analytics. The Director, Global Logistics will own the optimization of our inbound transportation services, identifying opportunities for consolidation through a complex and fragmented space, and developing solutions transportation between facilities. The Director will drive efficiencies and improvements throughout Roland Foods’ global supply chain operations.  This position will oversee operations including booking of sailings with vendors, managing logistics service providers, tracking ocean and air shipments, and providing feedback to cross functional teams on delays in origin, on water, and at destination and developing mitigation plans to address and resolve issues.

This position is expected to report to Roland Foods’ New York City headquarters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive efficiencies and improvements throughout Roland Foods’ global supply chain operations.
  • Own the ocean/air import, domestic rail and over the road trucking activities, including service provider selection.
  • Analyze rates, route and tender shipments via approved transportation providers to optimize freight costs while maintaining excellent service levels.
  • Day-to-day management of the Company’s warehousing, transportation, and 3PL providers.
  • Managerial responsibility for the Company’s warehouse team in Miami, Florida.
  • Managerial responsibility for the Inventory Control team.
  • Responsibility for managing Distribution Expense to budget, and continuous improvement to reduce the actual rate of Distribution Expense to Gross Revenue.
  • Collaboration with Sales, Customer Experience, and other departments within the Company to drive customer order fulfillment to meet customer expectations.
  • Create and conduct high profile presentations and effectively represent distribution logistics to key leaders.
  • Participate in and influence Roland Foods’ Logistics strategy agenda from a distribution perspective and communicate and coordinate distribution initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver structural improvements and designs for the future; while maximizing daily performance, future scalability, and growth opportunities for the business.
  • Other activities or initiatives as directed.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years progressive management level operational experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of supply chain logistics processes including distribution requirements planning, transportation and logistics planning, inventory control, inventory management, and demand planning.
  • Must be results driven and utilize knowledge to meet or exceed KPIs and goals.
  • Able to prioritize responsibilities with the appropriate level of urgency, able to listen and can use this information to solve problems, anticipate issues and make correct decisions based on a variety of situations.
  • Must have superior communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal skills; able to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions.
  • Consumer Packaged Goods distribution experience.
  • Proven ability to execute high complexity projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Ability to build cross-functional partnerships, engage in and lead cross-functional teams and initiatives.
  • Strong ability to develop and deploy quantitative analysis for business improvement; track record of KPI-driven and data-driven leadership.
  • Comprehensive business process and systems knowledge, and the ability to identify and implement best practices.
  • Transformative change management skills and self-awareness to take varying approaches with a dynamic set of stakeholders.
  • A strong track record of talent recognition and development- finding and building future leaders for the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Blue Yonder WMS a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
