We are currently hiring for a full-time Dental Assistant to join our team in Oakridge, OR. 

Dental assistants greatly increase the efficiency of the dental hygienist in the delivery of quality oral health care and are valuable members of the Orchid Health team. The essential job functions of a dental assistant are among the most comprehensive and varied in a dental office. The dental assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.

  • Provide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area; positioning instruments for dental hygienist’s access; suctioning; passing instruments.

  • Provide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth.

  • Provide diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.

  • Maintain patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations; cleaning and polishing removable appliances.

  • Help dentists and dental hygienists manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

  • Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.

  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Ensure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

  • Knowledge or understanding of insurance verification and prior authorization process; referrals;

  • Knowledge of administrative intake process

  • Experience or understanding of OSHA requirements

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.

  • Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to participation in clinic meetings, Quality Review, and/or other activities.

Qualification Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificate

Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting preferred (Qualified Dental Assistant)

Current CPR (BLS) required License and/or certification preferred

EFDA certified preferred

Strong electronic health record experience.

Knowledge of medical terminology

Compensation:

This is a 40-hour week position

Pay range is $21.00-$22.50 DOE
