Reporting to the Head of Project Management, the Associate Director/Director of Project Management will provide project management leadership to product development teams, including core development teams, functional sub teams, and ad hoc teams. This individual will work closely functional department heads, project team leaders, project team members, and other project managers to ensure successful completion of project goals on schedule and within budget. The incumbent will also participate in project management process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage cross-functional diagnostic and/or drug development product development teams/sub-teams 
  • Organize and track interdepartmental activities to ensure completion of assigned projects within scope, on schedule and within budget constraints 
  • Identify project risks and prepare mitigations and contingency plans for review and endorsement by the appropriate department(s) / team(s) 
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of project milestones and deliverables 
  • Identify and communicate resource constraints with potential solutions 
  • Ensure team conflicts are resolved in a professional and timely manner 
  • Prepare project updates as needed for Portfolio Committee and other governance meetings and clearly communicate status in written documents and presentations 
  • Participate in implementing improvements to project management processes, tools and infrastructure to ensure ongoing efficiency across the R&D organization and company

Qualifications

  • B.S. in a life science / pharmaceutics / engineering, or related technical field with 7 to 10 years of experience independently managing or leading cross-functional project teams in a drug development / diagnostic development company 
  • Advanced degree (MS / PhD / Pharm D / MBA) is a plus 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus 
  • Proven track record of success in Project Management 
  • Experience creating and actively managing integrated timelines and budgets 
  • Thorough understanding of diagnostic and/or drug development processes 
  • Experience in development of radiopharmaceutical as a diagnostic or therapeutic preferred 
  • Experience with medical imaging in development programs preferred 
  • Late-stage drug development experience including BLA submission and approval preferred 
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities under tight deadlines 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple cross-functional teams in a matrix organizational structure 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
