Greenprint Partners is seeking an entry level (0-2 years experience) civil engineer or environmental engineer to join Greenprint’s green infrastructure engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering and a passion for stormwater management. This position will work under the direction of our engineering project managers to design green stormwater infrastructure projects in historically underserved areas of our nation’s cities and communities.

This position is located in Greenprint’s headquarters of Chicago, IL. Greenprint’s offices, which we share with our close friends at CNT, are located in the heart of the Loop, and Chicago-based employees enjoy the ability to work from the office and from home. Primary responsibilities:
This position will support our project managers in each of the following areas.
Project engineering and design
Conduct preliminary project site assessments, identify opportunities for green infrastructure and preliminary sizing of potential BMPs
Incorporate community benefit priorities surfaced by project development staff into designs
Support project development staff in presenting concept plans to site owners
Work with construction partners to develop preliminary construction cost estimates and project budgets
Conduct detailed BMP and supporting infrastructure sizing in accordance with permitting jurisdiction requirements.
Development of construction drawings and documents
Develop construction drawings in accordance with local permit requirements and good engineering practice
Develop BMP Operation & Maintenance manuals
Prepare and submit construction drawings to permit agencies and obtain all necessary permits and approvals
Work with construction partners to maintain construction budgets and value engineer projects where necessary to meet budget constraints
Construction management
Respond to contractor questions and field changes as necessary
Review contractor installed work for general compliance with specifications and design intent
Provide on-site training to the owner to explain how the BMP systems work and how they should be maintained.
Desired Experience and Characteristics
The desired candidate will hold a B.S. or M.S. from an ABET accredited institution
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar CADD program
Excellent listening skills
Ability to communicate effectively both in person and when working remotely
Experience in the design or maintenance of green stormwater infrastructure is desirable, but not required
