Staff Pharmacist - Full Time

As a Staff Pharmacist you will work with Operations and Product leaders to provide and elevate pharmaceutical care for our customers.

In this role you will be responsible for delegated responsibilities of pharmacy management including medication security, oversight of pharmacy support personnel, safe and accurate entry and dispensing of medications, and consultation of customers in regards to their pets’ therapies. You will be actively involved in the development and evolution of our operational policies and procedures related to prescription retrieval, processing, and dispensing. Your expertise and experience will assist in shaping the best practices that drive world class customer experience.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide consultations to customers including, but not limited to information and advice regarding drug utilization, interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage

  • Delegate to and supervise pharmacy support staff as necessary and ensure proper ratios are maintained

  • Order, receive, and stock medications in accordance with company policies as well as state and federal regulation

  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all drugs

  • Interact with veterinarians in the course of acquiring prescriptions, clarifying or modifying prescriptions, consulting on therapy considerations, and other clinical duties

  • Enter and/or review prescriptions with the highest degree of accuracy, 

  • Participate in Koala’s CQI program on the identification and remediation of prescription errors

  • Dispense, review, package, and ship orders to customers

  • Assist with the maintenance of proper prescription records

  • Assume responsibility as the pharmacist on duty, as needed

  • Ensure compliance with all practice standards as well as all local, state, and federal regulations

  • Perform other job duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications and Skills

  • Adept at multitasking and can prioritize critical tasks and conflicting requirements with acute attention to detail

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify gaps in complex workflows

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapidly evolving environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Familiarity with and knowledgeable about the application of appropriate clinical resources

  • Highly organized, self-starter capable of working independently


Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or equivalent degree

  • Pharmacist license in good standing with Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy and other licensed jurisdictions

  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties List / free of pending felony charges or convictions for criminal offenses involving controlled substances
