Adela is focused on the detection of cancer and other high-morbidity, high-mortality conditions through a blood test. The Company’s genome-wide methylation analysis technology has the unique ability to distinguish the most-highly informative (methylated) regions of the genome from the non-informative regions and preferentially target those informative regions for sequencing. The technology is initially being developed for use across the cancer continuum for detection, diagnosis and management and in the future will be applied to other conditions beyond cancer.


Adela is seeking a motivated and energetic Accessioning Manager, for a full-time position based at our state-of-the-art laboratory in New Haven, Connecticut.  This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative company focused on delivering cutting-edge technology. The Accessioning Manager is responsible for ensuring that work in Adela’s accessioning lab is performed in accordance with applicable regulations, including Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory bodies. This position manages the Accessioning team’s productivity within Lab Operations, maintains coordination and supervision of all accessioning functions, and meets corporate goals for turn-around-time (TAT).


Position Responsibilities  

  • Build a highly functional Accessioning team focused on delivering highest levels of processing accuracy while ensuring turnaround times are achieved consistently 

  • Plan and supervise daily operation of Accessioning Department ensuring that schedules are maintained, deadlines are met, and operational efficiencies are achieved.

  • Create administer policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), contribute to continuous process improvement to ensure consistent, high quality processes, and standard methodologies established within Laboratory Operations.

  • Establish and oversee specimen receipt, acceptance, and data entries processes, as well as management of associated documents and records to ensure specimen identification and integrity is maintained throughout all processes.

  • Coordinate and monitor all sample processing activities and troubleshoot sample, process, or system issues in collaboration with analytical laboratory leadership and Quality Assurance.

  • Identify problems that may adversely affect accurate and efficient sample processing and either take action to correct the problems or immediately advise the laboratory supervisor or manager.

  • Establish and routinely evaluate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide input and recommendations that improve daily operations for operational excellence and to ensure the effective use of resources.

  • Oversee training and competency assessments of Accessioning Technicians.

  • Enforce proper safety measures including appropriate use of engineering controls and personal protective equipment.

  • Ensures compliance with all handling and disposal of biohazardous waste requirements and regulations.

  • Support and/or participate in internal and external audits to ensure laboratory compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Provide Feedback and mentoring to Accessioning Technicians, complete and deliver performance reviews.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Arts or Science degree with at least seven (7) years of clinical laboratory management experience.
