Adela is focused on the detection of cancer and other high-morbidity, high-mortality conditions through a blood test. The Company’s genome-wide methylation analysis technology has the unique ability to distinguish the most highly informative (methylated) regions of the genome from the non-informative regions and preferentially target those informative regions for sequencing. The technology is initially being developed for use across the cancer continuum for detection, diagnosis and management and in the future will be applied to other conditions beyond cancer.


Reporting to the SVP, Finance the Controller is responsible for the production of financial reports and all aspects of the accounting process, including financial operations. Adela is managing through a Series A funding and this position will be critical in establishing a strong financial foundation for the company in preparation for future growth and funding.


Provide Controllership and Accounting expertise for the Company

• Responsible for accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable

• Work to ensure appropriate reporting across two entities; and accounting for GAAP and Tax purposes

• Oversee the monthly and quarterly close processes.

• Recommend and implement financial systems to address the needs of a growing company.

• Drive for continuous improvements in reporting and operations.

• Implement all accounting policies and procedures that ensure the highest level of operational efficiency and compliance for the company.

• Coordinate with external auditors.

• Develop partnerships with all areas of the organization, including Clinical, R&D, Lab Operations, Legal, HR, and Commercial.

• Collaborate with HR on payroll and other employee related financial processes.

• Work with external accounting firms and determine longer term, the most effective organization using both internal and external resources; build a strong accounting organization which attracts and develops talent.

• Help the organization understand financial results and manage to budgets • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor Degree
  • CPA
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in leadership, decision making, and change management.
  • Experience in Biotech preferred
  • Possesses strategic and analytical skills with the ability to translate strategic goals into specific objectives.
  • Ability to handle multiple high priority projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability and agility to identify challenges and implement appropriate solution quickly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and align with all levels of the organization.
