We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Associate Director/ Sr. Manager, Medical and Scientific Communications to join the Adela team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative company delivering cutting-edge genomic technology directly to clinicians. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to define and implement a publications and scientific communication strategy that supports product development, commercialization and demonstrates our value to multiple stakeholders. Additional primary responsibilities include enterprise writing inclusive of publications, abstracts, meeting presentations, protocols and guideline submissions and to ensure alignment of all written documents with the clinical development plan. This is a leadership role with substantial strategic input and will be critical in external communications of our scientific data and value proposition to multiple stakeholders.
Responsibilities as follows, but not necessarily limited to
- Develop, lead and execute scientific communication strategy, including publication planning, conference planning, and external messaging to advance scientifically rigorous data generation goals and inform clinical decision making.
- Partner with internal scientific, R&D, clinical and commercial leaders to assess publication needs and opportunities in alignment with corporate objectives.
- Perform medical writing of abstracts, presentations, manuscripts and other deliverables as part of the publications and medical communications plan.
- Engage and manage contributions from external authors and scientific advisors.
- Lead logistics for scientific publications including formatting, references, and journal submission.
- Be responsible for coordinating writing needs for regulatory and guideline submissions.
- Partner with medical affairs and our commercial team to develop and execute the creation of medical education content for use with ordering healthcare providers and KOLs.
- Ensure that the publication development process and all materials produced comply with current relevant guidelines, including but not limited to the ICMJE.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a scientific discipline is a plus.
- A strong record of developing publications and presentations at prior companies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in biotech industry in medical communications capacity.
- Expertise in understanding analyses performed in clinical studies to support laboratory developed tests and demonstrated ability to contextualize clinical study results in manuscripts and other scientific communication deliverables.
- An ability to develop and encourage cross-functional working relationships.
- An ability to organize and prioritize resources to ensure short- and long-term targets are met.
- Develop and manage the publications/ scientific communications budget.
- Skilled at innovation, cross functional leadership and strategic planning.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills both internally and externally
The base salary range is $150,000 to $185,000. This range is determined based on various factors including experience, qualifications, and market standards.
