Adela’s mission is to deliver innovative and accessible blood tests that harness biology to transform cancer care and improve well-being. The company is developing best-in-class technology to accelerate the diagnosis and improve the management of cancer through blood tests for minimal residual disease (MRD) monitoring and multi-cancer early detection (MCED). Adela’s blood-based, tissue-free product ensures universal accessibility to MRD testing for patients with cancer, eliminating any dependency on tumor tissue availability. Adela’s first product was recently clinically validated for predicting and surveilling for recurrence in patients with head & neck cancer and published in Annals of Oncology.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Adela Team as MSL Field Director/ Sr. MSL Manager (final title commensurate with experience). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing, dynamic, and collaborative biotechnology company leveraging innovative technology positioned to change the diagnostic testing landscape. This is a remote role with a travel requirement of approximately 50%. The position involves close collaboration with team members across the United States and Canada.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Key opinion leader (KOL) identification, education, needs assessment and relationship management to generate awareness of Adela’s products and help drive commercialization.
- Identify influential experts in relevant fields of medicine or research, such as senior physicians and Principal investigators.
- Establish and maintain peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs and community oncologists.
- Review and discuss medical and scientific information with KOLs, answering their technical questions.
- Understand current behaviors and help to identify needs and areas of opportunity.
- Give educational presentations to clinicians and researchers.
- Understand how test will inform clinical decision making and help develop evidence of clinical actionability.
Physician Feedback
- Work with KOLs and early adopters to understand feedback on our products, the TRF and the TRR.
- Collect and communicate insights from the healthcare community to help inform medical strategy, product strategy, and payer strategies.
Medical Education
- Identify, develop and create medical education opportunities for Adela at medical meetings, conferences, and symposia.
- Lead development of medical educational content in collaboration with subject matter experts across the company.
- Serve as subject matter expert to train and support the sales and customer service teams. Provide second line support to answer customer questions.
- Support development of product positioning and key product benefits.
Clinical Practice Implementation Support
- Provide in-person training and support to clinicians and office staff regarding test ordering and logistics.
- Coordinate with customer service to ensure delivery of superior customer experience to clinicians and office staff.
Competitive Intelligence and market research
- Monitor the scientific literature for new developments relevant to existing and planned products and prepare summaries for review by cross functional teams.
- Stay abreast of publications from competitors and share information as relevant.
- Interface with our clinical and scientific advisory board and with KOLs to understand customer needs and the ways in which diagnostics are being used to shape clinical decision making.
Research
- In support of clinical development, and other cross functional team members, shape Adela’s investigator-initiated research program by a) identifying evidence gaps for existing and planned products b) when needed serve as the external point of contact for investigator-led research, c) participate in the management of active investigator-initiated research efforts.
Team Building

Help prepare for the expansion of medical support of Adela’s products by assessing customer needs and opportunities, creating support models and strategic plans for medical affairs.
Education Requirements:
- Advanced degree, preferably an MD or PhD with a minimum of 5+ years industry experience in a medical affairs leadership role with focus on oncology.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5+ years industry experience in a medical affairs leadership role with focus on oncology.
- Experience in leading pre-launch, launch and post-launch activities for oncology products.
- Prior experience in clinical research role a plus.
- Demonstrate proven track record of building, developing and leading successful teams.
- Demonstrate passion for Adela’s products and technology platform.
- Superb leadership, interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Demonstrate flexibility, agility, willingness to wear many hats, and comfort operating in an environment with ambiguity.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all activities.
