POSITION SUMMARY: 

Day One is preparing to launch our lead asset DAY101 in pediatric Low-Grade Glioma (pLGG). This product is poised to be the first approved therapy for pLGG in the US. We are seeking an Assoc Director of Patient Advocacy who will be dedicated to liaising with pediatric brain tumor advocates and pLGG caregivers and patients and ensuring their experiences are incorporated into Day One decision making. You will be a key member of the launch team providing critical insights into the pLGG patient and family experience from diagnosis through survivorship. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including clinical development, medical affairs, commercial, and corporate communications.

Reporting to the VP, Patient Advocacy, this critical position is responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing strategic alliances with both patient advocacy organizations and other community groups. This role will be responsible for identifying opportunities for and leading outreach to advocates and educating internal teams regarding the patient and family experience and unmet needs.

This position has the potential to be fully remote with occasional visits to the office.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and lead tactical execution of patient advocacy plan in support of DAY101 launch in pLGG
  • Establish, maintain, and enhance relationships with the pediatric brain tumor advocacy community
  • Actively monitor the evolving patient advocacy landscape and thought leader insights at the national and global level; incorporate such developments, ideas, and strategies into the development and execution of programs
  • Passionately represent the voice and unmet needs of pLGG patient community to internal stakeholders
  • Communicate and partner with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, including medical affairs, clinical science, clinical operations, regulatory, commercial, and corporate communications
  • Advance patient advocacy organization initiatives aligned with Day One mission and objectives
  • Proactively identify opportunities and needs for advocacy engagement
  • Contribute new ideas and approaches to support development of the patient advocacy function
  • Approximately 20% travel is expected


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in relevant field is a plus
  • 8+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or with a non-profit advocacy organization
  • Highest ethical standards and integrity
  • Ability to champion the voice of patients and families
  • Comfort and experience navigating ambiguous environments
  • Established record of patient advocacy group engagement and advancement of shared goals
  • Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and guidelines governing patient advocacy as it relates to clinical research
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced and matrixed environment, prioritize tasks, and successfully manage multiple projects
  • Flexibility, innovation, and good judgment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to influence without authority
  • Appreciation and awareness of others’ points of view
  • Broad experience in an emerging, publicly traded company environment is a plus
